I've encountered a new JTAG issue with a 301.010 IRD that has a location address of 00000001:
> Can get Box Keys, IRD #, Build file, etc.
> Go to Flash Programming and the following pops up...
"LSI control unavailable, using slow programming. -OK"
"Flash codes returned are not recognized by JKEYs. MFG/Device codes returned are 0/0/(JEDEC) and 0/0/ (Flash file)"

I can't erase SA3 of TSOP to return IRD to working status...

What does that mean?
Any experience with this?
THX!

check your connections Ground is very important

It's a common problem when you don't have a good connection.

You had a good connection when it gave you the box keys and IRD # then you slipped and it lost it.

You should be using J-Keys 2_9_11_026

Just go back and di it again and make sure you keep a good connection.

Thanks, guys!
You both were right... a poor connection at the GND point (wire broke at aligator clip under insulator sheathing).

Now that I have your attention... why does my 301.010 (TSOP lock, Atmega128, 18MHZ using TCFD II) keep resetting to location ID address of 00000001?

I fix it, reset tiers, and after about an hour it resets (ecm?) to 00000001.

FYI - I just returned the IRD from BEV to Dish -- the lock worked great aith BEV... doesn't work with Dish (Error 155 Nag)

Thanks SO much guys!

I would'nt even have a lock on these days, the last ecm was nov. 04, and besides it's a quick fix if it does ghet hit.

Could be a cam problem too, make sure your using a valid cam id

An old master padlock sittin on top of the IRD would work with BEV they never sent any ECM.

I would say your lock is old and not working except as a target. Either update it or turn it off.

I would turn it off.

I know BEV has had no ECM for over 6 months... I'm testing Dish now.

Yeah, I can JTAG and fix the IRD... but the box (IRD) is not easy to access... that's the reason for the lock... I avoid having to pull the IRD out of a cabinet with other video components.

I'll ask my questions in a different way...

** I'm testing Dish. Is my 301.010 IRD (Atmega & TCFD II) changing Location I.D to 00000001 because of
1. bad CAM #
2. bad tiers
3. other

Thx!

1. Charlie does not target cam ID#
2. Sometimes he will target tiers and PPV that are out of his current ranges. He changes them every other saturday.
3. He targets locks, if you lock is not the latest versin or the lock software is not up to date you will get hit. He can go right through some older / out of date locks and get you anyway.

In case you are not aware if it the IRD is on even when it is off. It is generating heat which has no place to go in a un-ventiilated enclosure, bad for the electronics.

You can update your lock, I think the best one around now is the AR-105, software upgradable.

You can put in a permanant J-Tag with a wire coming out so you don't have to pull the IRD.

You can tighten up the ranges and get a program / patch to auto roll the keys and ranges, PPV & Events, good idea since they are changing frequently.

My 301.10's with magic1 auto roll everything and I have never used a lock, I have only had to J-Tag 3 times this year.

Hope this helps, Sj

Hey, man, thanks for the response and the insight.

FYI - I have a couple of silent fans (intake and exhaust) in my video cabinet to maintain a cap on temperatures. You're right about electronics' creating heat whether on or off.

I am using Atmega and am trying to get the tiers and PPV tight enough where IRD is not targeted by Dish and disable it (with location I.D. of 00000001).
I know you're using M/C... Do you have any experience with TCFD II?

Thanks, again!
Cheers!!

Those fans are a good Idea, I have a master switch that turns EVERYTHING off.
My electric bill is high enough without the TV, DVD, VCR, IRD & stereo drawing power when they are "OFF" nothing shuts off anymore, it just goes to standby so the lazy idiots can use a remote and have instant on. I have to push a button and wait a minute but I save on electric so I can afford to run the A/C 8 months a year down here.

No but we have a lot of people in the ATmega section that are having good luck and a couple of programs in the files section that seem to work good.
Good tiers that don't get hit and autoroll everything.

Now I get where you are (I think)
The clue was the A/C coupled with the 'Bucaneer' pirate avatar.
If it's where I am guessing it's one of my favorite visit spots... in spite the humidity and flying bugs!

Thanks again for the guidance... I'll check the other forums and search for a cheap trick with my Atmega.

Cheers!!

I was guessing between the Great Mississippi and Corpus!
Not a bad guess, eh?!

Still a great stretch of beach coast and GREAT FISHING!
When Spring Break kicks in... San Padre can be interesting to troll, too!
