ok, first of all, both those IRD's are excellent for testing. U heed to decide what u want to do(cards,Emu,atmega?). For cards u will need to get an iso programmer. and by the way if u have been subbing your cards are likely locked (you cant get in). u can send them to a dealer or u can get some elsewhere that are open. this is why many people go with atmega or emu. i much prefer card (plastic) as do many. u will also need a jtag. get a good one, if u are inclined u can make your own, very simple. u will also need software for programming (nagra 3.0,xcel...) and jkeys. both those units have jtag ports on the bottom. this should get u started. But first!!! download the bewbie guide. it will answer most of your questions

I have just started to look at this kind of stuff to get started. I have two recievers that I have been paying for 4 years. One of them is a Model 2700 and the other is a model 3900. I would like for someone to let me know what I need to buy in order to get started. I would like to do this as soon as possible. The recievers are Dish Network.
