The 7200 flash is a lot larger than the 2700 flash and it will not fit in the chip.
Can anybody tellme if a 7200 tsop be read in a 2700 if installed because I tried but j keys not reading chip unrecognized by jkeys I belive it does see tsop?
Yes....

You will need a modded Jkeys definition file to recognize the 7200 tsop chip.
From trussno1 over at kc.
Add to your jkeys.def file in the appropriate spots.
Doesn't show boxkeys or ird#, but he says it works.
Probably needs tweaking to be perfect.

I tried adding that info into def file for jkeys and still get a error but father I think!
Mfg/device codes returned are 80/0(jedec) and 80/0 flash
anything else?

How the hell are you going to squeeze 1 M.B. of flash (7200) into a 512 K.B. (2700) chip ???
There is a great thread about doing this floating around here somewhere. t160hq got in on the project and some other smart folks and it seems to be a pretty good way to get your 7x00 up and running again. I'll have to look for the thread and post a link. Basically, you can set up an old 2800 receiver to operate as a chip programmer for the tsop that get's hit by ECM in a 7x00. (there are three tsop chips in a 7x00, but you only need to reprogram one of them if location id is 00000001)
We may have lost that thread in the dDos attack. I can't seem to locate it. Any chance I can recruit anyone who remembers what I'm talking about to help find it? That was a great thread.
That long thread wasn't lost....It was deleted when HDTV man left this site..
SmilingJack we're not trying to put 7x00 tsop on a 2x00 tsop...we're using the 2x00 and installing 7x00 tsop in it, then using its JTAG/microcontroller to reprogram the tsop...
pm t160q for the correct def files....

i believe there is a .zip file either here or on maestra that details how-to transplant a tsop chip into a 2800.
very simplified version:
1. unsolder tsop from 7200 (its under the hard drive)
2. unsolder tsop from 2800, keep in safe place :)
3. solder 7200 tsop into the 2800. (make sure you keep pin #1 in the correct corner)
4. locate the modified jkeys.def file that includes the 7200 tsop.
5. Use jkeys to read 7200 tsop.
6. Use hex editor to overwrite ecm code. (i forget the hex address of this, its in that how-to)
7. Use jkeys to write the new image to your 7200 tsop.
8. unsolder 7200 tsop from 2800.
9. solder 7200 tsop back into 7200.
10. INSTALL MIC LOCK ON YOUR 7200 BEFORE POWERING UP :)
Hints:
If you are newbie to soldering, this task is near impossible. I did it with a radio shack $10 soldering iron and the desoldering braid. You cannot apply TOO much heat or you will fry the tsop. The pins cannot touch or you will get errors. The pins might LOOK like they are soldered, but they really arent. It can be fustrating, but it will work.
Also, a magifine glass will help tons. A multimeter will help locate pins that are touching.
I suggest finding a old board and trying to desolder a chip from it first. It is VERY easy to bend the tsop pins and then you are screwed. I suggest using tweesers to lift it, and dont even touch the sides with the pins.
Other than that good luck, it can be done. I will try and find that zip file with the real instructions. Please dont PM me, id love to help but i just dont have the time to do individual help.

May be too little too late. But just read this thread and I still have all the info on this project. Including most of the orginal thread talking about it.
I also have the 7100tsopto2800.zip file with pictures of the receiver mods and descriptions of how to. If any still needs it I can post it to the files section.
