View Full Version : oil % for Merc 350 outboard
Does anybody know what the oil/fuel mixture is for a 1963 merc 350 35hp? I was told 20/1 and then someone else said that was to much oil use 50/1. I don't know what to mix it at. Any help would be great. I don't wanna be half way across the lake and fawl out a plug or be to lean and burn the motor and have to row back to shore.

50/1 is the standard when in doubt.
20/1 is way too much. you would end up fouling your plugs and it would smoke like a Muta fuka!
There's got to be a dealer somewhere you can call or find the info with a google search. 20/1 is definetely way too much. Hell, even my chainsaw and brush whacker use 32/1.

At 32/1, you must change your plugs often or at least have to crank quite a bit before it starts. That seems a little much to me!

50: 1 is correct for any outboard, merc. o.m.c. ect, new engines have v.r.o. that change the amount through the r.p.m. band, nothing you have to worrie about, you can run 32:1 but it will smoke and not run the best,as a former world champion in F1-BOATS i built my owen motors, and still do for a few people, still hold world rec. 169.53, your motor is not a boat anchor,if it runs and has good compression and a good gear case fix it ! ! ! It can still last for years, if you need help p.m. me, THE OUTBOARD MAN
