How do I know if my receiver is modded I bought it off ebay the chip inside says" m27c801-120f1 ST Singapore " I changed the cam Id on a bin and it came in for about 2 min then went black then 745. I saw other links about the change to 24D8.How do i fix this problem? please help.
The mod does not eliminate 745. It allows you to use any CAM ID that is not blacklisted without having to read the card. All that is required is the card number on the back. I would suggest trying a P4 number or just make one up.

Biggie, was this receiver advertised as modified? I'm not familiar with the internals of an RCA 303...so that chip information doesn't mean much. What are you running, specifically, with your bin? Activation? 3M?
Freeware stuff?
Try this...take a known good, valid bin, apply a good script to it...preferably a 3M that doesn't lock the card...make sure it runs properly in your receiver...then, read the card, edit line 24D8 to any number between 11 and 99...and write it to your card. That will give you a great big phony camid...if you have a modded IRD, it will work..if not, it won't last but a few minutes.
Quick and dirty way to see if you have a modded IRD.
Post if you need some assistance with this...not hard...
Main thing we need to know, what programs are you using, and how are they being applied??

If you get video at all with a randomly generated cam and invalid ZKT table then its most likely modded, its been my experience that a invalid primary ZKT = insta-745, not even a second of video.

That chip could be the original eprom that was installed (board date 3-07-97).
Is the eprom in a socket? Does the socket look original or installed after. (look for messy solder work and flux)
Is there a paper lable on the eprom chip and what does it say on it?
When watching the TV, press display, on the title bar does it say 'HeHeV.2' on the right side under the date? If it does its has the 303 mod.

From the board date, this receiver had the socket installed originally.
This may be the original chip " m27c801-120f1 ST Singapore ".
Usually when the receiver has the modded software on the eprom you will see the 'heheV2' under the date.
IF when you bought the receiver on eBay it clearly said that it was already had the 303 modification then assume that your receiver is modded and that your problems are card related.
I would first try to get the thing to work with a valid bin and known working script. Then try to figure out the 303 mod problems.
If the receiver has not been modified this receiver is easy to do. The M23C801 eprom needs to be erased and reprogrammed with the 303 modified software. The date on your board indicates that your receiver may require either the 303m or 303o software to function. The bin file required for this are available in the download area.

The good thing about that IRD is that the mod can be done with a simple chip swap.... That's what I did to my 303....

When do you get IVAC, with a card in or before the card is inserted??????? Before the card is inserted you should get Please insert your access card, if you get IVAC without a card it is a different problem.

In that case, the card probably is corrupted, unloop it and apply a good nozkt modified bin and try again.

look inside is there any messy solder flux all over near the chip? is the chip in a socket? when you dont have an access card in does it say anything else underneath, try putting a p4 cam on card and if that stays up its modded if not its not.....but 303 mod is very easy to do (at least if you know what your doing ) :o) good luck
