am having major error problems, error 002, 004 and problem with my multiswitch all intermittently.I have re-soldered C118 & C119 which made no difference. Was working fine on *** now not on D***. anybody know any of the other solder points that give problems.Receiver has up to date software, very strong signal both satellites and have changed all cables and switch.I have also re-flashed and used a virgin eeprom.Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Did you use a new dish 4900 flash or just do a erase and restream. ?

If you just erased and restreamed that is your problem, find a good 4900 (dish) flash and put it in with a virgin EPROM.

used a new dish flash.I figure there is a bad solder joint somewhere because it works for a while then not.

If it was a solder joint it would either work or not unless temp was involved, does it work cold and not hot or after it goes can you fix it while hot and have it work again. ?

Those 4900's are finicky IRD's.
I lost my flash and had to go through a bunch, 33, befoire I found one it liked and would work with.
It was also a 4700 (Bev) converted to dish.

it works for a while then if I change channels it gets the error message. It works again after I re-do the check switch test.when it is not working and I go to the Dish pointing screen it will not give me the strength of both satellites in green. I erased sa 30 and it updated.Still does not work properly

P2.18 is the current firmware.

Old firmware can cause the problems so can a bad or corrupted flash.

I doubt that you need to do any more soldering. Or that you needed to do what you already solderedd. It is rarley a bad solder job on a older IRD, the new ones yes, but not the old ones.

10 to 1 it is a software problem, check your Build on the sticker and make sure you have a close one at least 3 letters and see if you can find another flash to try.

Let me know the build and I will see if I have one that is close.

the software is CCJA. the Decal is CCJD and the virgin eeprom I made CCJD.I think all that is correct.

Here is a 4900 ccja at P-216

Thanks.I think that is the build I had before I erased sa 30 and it updated to P218.The only other thing I can think of is when creating the virgin eeprom and it asks for the build do I use upper case or lower case letters.I read somewhere that the wrong ones lead to problems.

Just use uppercase or it wll not update.
I sent the Virgin EPROM that goes with that flash too.

It will update when you put it in the stream if you set it to take updates without permission.

If it does not help let me know, I have a lot more flashes. Like I said it took quite a few to get mine going.

read the letters on the decal inside the receiver to get the correct build. Then download the correct file.it won't work properly if you don't have the correct build.

I installed a powered sw21 switch attached to the accessory plug on the back of the receiver and ran a 2nd line out to the 2nd dish.I eliminated the sw 21 switch I had outside and now all works fine. I guess the 2 receivers I tried did not like the distance to the switch, which was less than 100 feet.
