View Full Version : Lost 119
We had been up and running (newbies about 6months old) - 2 weekends ago - turned on TV - programming wouldn't hold - revisited all info and decided we probably needed to reposition the dish (there had been some pretty bad storms/wind)- no luck - we have changed the LNBF thinking maybe it was bad - reprogrammed the card - rececked all cabling and connections - repositioned the dish - on and on .....when we bring up the set up menu it reads as satellite 110 and that's it - can not get it to go to 119 and we can get no programming at all - even 110 - it won;t hold on transponders etc. any help would be wonderful !!

What type of receiver do you have? What if any switches are you using?

You have done so much it is now hard to tell what the problem is.
Just what do you get, black screen, menu, headings. ?
We have a 3900 receiver - using no swithches -
When we turn on TV the screen that comes up is the one that says "Acquiring Satellite signal" like when you first start up with new programmed card. It never processes anything - numbers at bottom never change and after a couple of minutes it "shuts itself off" and then comes back up to the same screen.

well that tells me it 'see's' the card anyway.
And that the card is probably good.
Since you have tried two LNB's one has to be good.
Turn it on and put the card in and then take it out, It should give you the following numbers------the other way if it will do it is to go to menu-information ----- what you want to find is the location ID # which can be anything but 0000001 which would mean the IRD TSOP has been ECM'ed and the Card # which can be anything but S00000000 which would mean the card had been hit or is not programmed right.
Sounds to me like you just need to get your dish aimed properly.

I think you are right JT,
I wanted to try to get him going better with that 110 he already has then get him to re-aiming the dish to get 119 too.
He has another problem too somewhere besides the dish aim.
Will try what smilingjack suggeested - we reprogrammed the card last evening and tried again - Acquiring Satellite screen comes up with nothing on it - it then kicked off and came back on with our ROO and SOO numbers listed Sat.119 Transp 11 but Prgression 0 of 5 never moves - it stays on that for a minute or so and then kicks off - then comes back on - kicks off - just keeps doing that. Will do what smilingjack suggested and see what we find - could the receiver be bad or need reset?

Have you been doing switch checks ?
If not try that, first with the DISH cable off. (to clear the memory)
Then with the dish cable hooked up.

I have also taken a small TV outside with me and hook the receiver and TV to the Dish and it is a lot simpler that way sometimes to get your signal dialed in at the best strenth.
Hi everyone - we sure appreciate eveyone's suggestions - here is where we are after about 4 hours today - we got our hands on another receiver - and reprogrammed our card to match it - with that receiver we have been able to at least get locked in on 110 but having no luck at all getting any signal from 119. Any help getting us locked into 119 would be great - we are staying on transponder 11 / 12 - no problem getting signal for 110 but absolutely no signal for 119 no matter what we do - check switch only shows one set of odd/even which is what we expected with no signal for 119 When we do get some "activity " on signal 119 it stays red with white but does not go green or say locked in like the 110 signal.
Based on what we have done today - we have come to the conclusion that our receiver must have gone bad - does that make sense ? Anything worth messing with or just look at buying another one?

IF the IRD gets 110 it is good and will get all the signals.
The only thing that will only give you 1 sat and not the other is;
1. bad aim, not aimed at both sats.
2. Bad switch, if it is internal you need another head for it., If it is external sw 21 take the switch out and hook up to the LNB's direct and get signals from each one to see which LNB is bad.
We have tried 2 heads and both do the same so it must be our aim.....any tricks for us to try ? Shouldn't both lock in green on the screen?
PS - here is what we see on the screen.
Two signals - same strengh (99-100)
"Top" one says locked 110 W and is green.
"Bottom " one is red with white in center showing signal strenth - says Wrong Satellite - Echostar 110W
Check swith - X X 110 110
X X odd even

both your signals are pointed at 110...you need to move one to 119
