Hey everyone,
I have recently though about actually subscribing to Bev and getting some HD channels for my new TV, but I have a few questions about the equipment.

What I need is an HD receiver for one room in my house, and I also need 2 or preferable 3 other non-HD cheap receivers for other rooms.

Now when I went to the Bell store, I was told that for this to work, I would need a Dual LNB dish as well as a $180 (Canadian) Multi switch in order to receive both HD and standard channels. In total, the package would cost me $800, which I think is a "little" steep.

Can someone shine some light on this and tell me what I ACTUALLY need for this to work, and maybe I can get some of the equipment off ebay and save some money.

Thanks a lot.

Get yourself a Quad LNB there are lots on Ebay...I use one myself I have 4 irds running off it....You can use up to 4 irds and feed off both sats all from 1 head..They sell on Ebay for about $25 US..... You will also need a 20 inch dish with a skew if your a new customer it should come with one of the ird packages you buy...:)

But the guy said I still need a switch to get both HD channels and regular channels on the HD terminal. Can you point me in the right direction on exacly how this would all hook up?

Thanks again.

He's full of it trying to sell you something you don't need...I use my Quad it has built in switches I run 2 HD irds with HD channels a 501 pvr and a 3100 all off 1 dish and 1 lnb.....You get all reg channels and HD channels, you will need to pay Bell $10 more though to receive the HD channels on top of what ever package you choose....

Alright, so let me just see if I got this right.

I can get their package which is pretty cheap. It consits of one 6100 receiver, 3 - 3100 receivers and a 20" skew dish with dual LNBs. THen I get a quad LNB off ebay and replace the dual LNB with that. THen I can hook everything up without having to purchase anything else?

Thanks again for the info.

Sorry, one more question.
When I get all of this equipment, which two satellites do I need to pick up in order to get all programming, and which transponders do I use? From what I understand I need the 110 and 119 satellites. *I live in Calgary, Ab*

I thought you were subbing this to Bell if so it is 91 and 82 Dish is 119 and 110 and where ever you buy the system from Bell has free installs, have them install the dish for you..... :)
