Sj - Which satellites would require a 1 meter dish that points south from anywhere in the United States?

They all point south more or less, that's where the 'clarke belt' is over the equator.
Some to the South-east and some to the South-west but all are basicly pointing south.

http://www.lyngsat.com/

is the list with the total world coverage The Atlantic sats run from 0 to 61 west (point dish WAY South - East) , the US runs from 61 W to 160 W (point Dish South-East to South west) and the Asian sats are 160 w to 60 East (point Dish WAY South-West)

Of course as you know just how much east or west of due south you point the dish depends on wether you are on the east or west coast and which sat you are aiming at.

Really hard to say. With a 1 meter dish it anyuld be any one of 30 sats. little dish, BUD or KU

There are hundreds of them up there and only a few are for TV.

Well SJ, I have limited information about this satellite. I am sure it has a variety of programming, such as TV Japan, HBO, Cinimax, ESPN 2, DISNEY, CNN...ETC, just to name a few. Seems to be 30 channels avalable. Can you narrow it down to a few for me? Then if you can do that please figure out which ones would require a 1 meter dish.

Maybe the Fta guys would have an Idea?

It might be the mexican dish company, is it in spanish ?
or a south american company, Spanish
or that compamy everyone complains about in the carribean they all have to use bigger dishes out there. mostly english.

I thing charlie owns the mexican and south american companies.

There really is no way to pin it down with out a sat name or channel designation or a transponder number. From the lineup it may be the carribean sat system, not many channels and 99% american / english

Ok, if it is the Caribbean sat system, do you know who owns it and its name? Would you know what encryption is used? I rarely ask for help :) but I kinda need this help.

UNIVISION is the only Spanish Lang. channel listed.

OK, thanks Sj. If you find out anything please advise me. In the mean time would you move this thread to the Fta section, I think it would be the best place for it and maybe someone their would have some additional information that would help me.
