A question on a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500
Left blinker works fine, Right blinker works fine but light in dash stays on. Turn the head lights on, right side stops work and the light in the dash (right side turn signal light) stays on and the over head counsol where it shows the outside temp flashes. Any ideas???? Local dodge dealer has know idea.

Do the lights flash when you flip on the turn signal? Or do they just stay on like the dash (turn signal) light does?

which lights? The head lights work like there suppose to. The left side blinker works like it is supoose to. The right side works fine with the head lights off but the blinker light in the dash stays on. Turn the head lights on and the blinker on the right side stops working but the overhead counsol flash and the blinker light stays on in the dash. Now I also noticed to day that the truck has factory fog lights or maybe there day time running lights down on the buttom of the bumper, they don't work either. I bought this truck from a auto auction for $6000.00 so theres nobody to return this thing to a bitch at them.

These guys don't even know how to repair their cards, and you are asking them to help you on your truck.

My knee left knee hurts but only when I walk on it.

If I only use my right leg, my left one don't bother me that bad.

About the same with my wife.

Is there any doctors in the house?

Not sure exactly what is going on, but do you know if this truck had a hitch and light hookup for atrailer? If so, it sounds like the splicing into the lines has created some cross over in the wiring. If this is the case and you do not use it, a simple solution may be to unhook the plug in harness. If not, someone may have been playing under the dash with the wiring (things like after market lights, car starter or alarm) In this case, you would have to trace back these connections to see where the mixup is.

Good Luck.

Cut both of your legs off and stuff them in your mouth.

Back to the question. What I was asking is do the blinker lights blink when everything is working fine?

There is a switch on the dash next to the OD button (if it is an automatic) that controls the fog lamps. They will only come on when the head lights are on low beam.

The top console which displays temp is connected to the headlight switch. It will dim when the lights come on as well as the lights on the radio if it is still stock. It is just to keep the light from being so bright while driving at night. In turn, they are connected to tail lights, and any trailer lights, so tazmnaz suggestion is a good one. Grounds can be a big problem too. Check any grounds that you can find. The ones next to the headlights, battery, and there should be one on the frame by the rear bumper.

I betcha 50 cents that you have bridged bulb elements. Take out one bulb at a time, on the affected side, to determine which one it is.

Well you all have some good ideas for me to check out. I will post any results I might find. As for Grinchster, We didn't need any bs remarks. These guys in this forum have been great for help. They have helped me in card repairs as well as automotive concerns. I have things answered here that the car dearships couldn't answer. For all you that have given suggestions, THANKS

It turned out to be a blinker socket. Somebody had replaced it and had 2 of the 3 wires backwards.
