View Full Version : Blue ROM10 Doesn't work after Card Swap

Hello,

I've never tested before or anything with Dish, and found out about the whole scene after investigating why Dish was doing the card swap. Anyway, I installed my new NAG2 card and activated it and now my blue ROM10 card (legit, unmodified) does not work. The reason I want to continue using the blue card is because, for whatever reason, it received a few more channels (and CD audio, etc) than my new NAG2. At any rate, since I activated the new card, what happened to my blue card? It is still at rev024 so I don't think it was locked. Is there any way I can still use it? Do I need to do anything to my receiver (301.010) to get my blue card to work again?

In addition, I am interested in possibly doing some testing with my blue card before everything goes black (NAG2). Not that I really care about the TV but I'm a geek and these things interest me. Can I program it with a regular smart card programmer or do I need to order a special programmer from this site or a similar site?

Thanks
LS

I believe DISH de-activates the old card when you go thrugh the process of activating the new one.

So if they deactivate it, what happens to the old card? Will it become locked if it is put back in the reciver and into the datastream?

If I want to use the old card again with my receiver, what do I have to do? Unlock and reprogram, just reprogram, etc... or is the card useless at this point?

I'm still new at this and trying to figure it all out... thanks for your patience.

unlock and reprogram- what rev is it @- iggy
you may need a modded loader to unlock

It's a RevA24 card so I don't think it's been locked (I looked up rev codes for locked cards and did not see A24 on the list) but what do I know ;-)

Can I use a regular ISO smart card programmer like the ones that can be purchased at an electronics store to program the card or will I need to purchase one online specifically for this purpose? Obviously I would prefer to use a regular smart card programmer if at all possible.

Thanks,
LS

a24 is locked, can be opened with a modded loader, and then programmed with an ISO programmer with the correct crystal speed, I am unsure as to what that speed is off the top of my head.

I was hoping it wasn't locked. Hmm.. so where does one get a modded loader and what type works for ROM10's? Again, can these be purchased locally from an electronics store or are they specialty items that need to be purchased from an online dealer? Can a regular smart card programmer be modified to unlock the cards?

Thanks!

standard ISO-7819 smart card reader writer with a 3.68 crystal for reading and writing the rom cards and I'd get one that hooks up to your computer serial port and uses a wall rat power supply for the power. The only way to unlock a rom10 at rev a24 is with a modified unlooper that can be bought online already modded or not and you mod it. A regular smart card programmer can not unlock rom10's at a24 you modify a regular old DTV H card or HU card Unlooper to unlock rom cards.

Might be cheaper just to buy a new ROM 3 or 10. I've seen them for sale at around $25.

Maybe an emulator is the best for my purposes then.. anyone have a step-by-step guide to building an AVR such as a season interface or max-mel?

Thanks!
