RCA440RE Dial Out Mod

I cannot remember where I saw a mod for the 440 that allowed one to prevent it from dialing out, howerver would still allow it to Do caller ID displays on the screen.

Has anyone seen this mod?

On other quick question... if I do the no-zkt mod to it, would this caller ID function still work?

i remember reading something of the sort where you have to put some resistors in series with a phone wire and it will still work. the site that i remember seeing it on shut down. if i am not mistaken you put a 150 ohm 5% resistor on each line. to test it, use the line and plug it into a NON cordless phone. use your cell to call your house and see if the caller id pick it up. if it does, then you are all set. by the way, if you get a dial tone on the phone you are running the test on, you need to add more resistance.

Thank you for your reply Rabbitears... very detailed... just a quick question... will the call display still work after the no-zkt mod...(420 tsop file ....used for 420/440/480 )

Ok did the no-zkt-mod... and the call display this is still available... will try the mod for dissabling call out with call display some time later... thanks again for the info... but if anyone there has the step by step document on it... that would be very cool...

Caller Id is enabled in the eeprom, so if you change that it will need to be edited.,

Really easy to disable the modem as outlined above, the transformer is T28101 and the optocouplers are U28102 and U28103, unsolder the transformer, its easy, and just cut the optocouplers out with wire cutters. Then modem will fail system test but callerID will still work.
