I too have software in order to do this. let me know if you need it. you do however need to create a bootable floppy or CD and you obviously need a computer in order to do that.
it resets to no password

Try starting your computer in the safe mode, then you should be able to go change the password

I don't think you can change the admin password in safe mode.
use the one I posted, it is awesome.
It will only work on the machine itself tough. will not allow you to do it over a network. that sucks!

i'll try it as well. while we're on computers here though, i have a question. I currently have an intel motherboard with a 1.0GHz Intel celeron processor installed, which is pretty slow. I want to upgrade to an AMD motherboard with an AMD Sempron 2800+ 2.0GHz processor with 512MB DDR memory, maybe add more later.
Will this slight upgrade significantly speed up my pc? Also, Will I be able to use these new items along with my current hard drive? Thanks

Try here there are a million of them around.
It will also lead you to other places like alta vsita.
If you have a old junky computer you may want to open any files you get there, just in case
These places are the reason I have to re-format and re-install so frequently. lots of jokers.

Try booting into safe mode. XP should give you Two Users to log in with. Your original login name and one called "Administrator". The admin should not have password protection on it. You can then remove your old login and create a new one.
Good luck

you can buy a program for $40.00 that runs in Dos, that will let you remove all the passwords in XP Pro. I will not post it for you, as it has my email address as the buyer, sorry about that. The program is called Active Passwork Changer 3, you can buy it online, if you have access to another online computer. This program will create a boot Dos boot disk that will hunt down the passwords, and give you the option of removing any or all of them. When you then boot up in XP again, all you have to do is just ignore the password. I had four XP computers that were password locked, now I have four computers with no passwords. Good luck

Here:
h**p://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ My son and I went there got the files . Use about a total of 10 different programs and nothing gets pass the admin password. If this was a desktop unit I would've had it apart, disassembled , back together , up and running. This Laptop looks like it is going to put in the place I had my Lifetime receiver before I got that up and running again with the last bin fix. But I am still at it. Maybe by Monday I will be able to give it to my granddaughter and see the Big smile on Her Face. Got Three more day. Got To Go Now . Have a

I use the linux floppy everytime I can't get past the admin password and have never failed.
Are you talking about the Windows password or a BIOS password?

I use the linux floppy everytime I can't get past the admin password and have never failed.

Since I can not remember what I did . Apparently I went into the bios to change the booting sequence to boot from cd then hard drive when I upgraded the laptop to winxp since it had no floppy installed. while there I put in the password for supervisor. after installing winxp pro I went back and made my booting sequence back to hard Drive then CD drive..The programs we used are EBCD061p-iso (all programs were burned as iso using Nero smart burn) Austrumi-iso
EBCD061p-iso
Austrumi-iso
ERD Commander 2005-iso
bd050303-iso
myCD-iso
cd050303-iso
active change password
login recovery
After three wrong tries in locks up the computer and you have to turn it off and reboot . We hold down the ESC button and the F8 button to try safe mode and the enter password comes up . I even have a bootable winxp and winme and it will not boot from them because of the booting sequence( hardDrive First then CD Drive) So It must be the Bios password . I'm back where I've started. Thanks for the input. Have a Great Day!!

Yes you are talking about the bios password. It has nothing to do with windows xp. I am not sure how to bypass that one but there must be a way. start with your motherboard maker or the bios company web site.

Tiger,
Was the Unofficial eMachines Forums of any use in this endeavor?
Try the bios password site I listed above. You'll need to know the brand name of the computer's bios to try the factory backdoor passwords.

Phoenix Bios ia the name and nothing worked. W e took it to The Laptop Guy, a coumputer store who works on laptop. I got a copy of my receipt from when I brought it off of the net and had my three recovery cd's and went to his shop. My son drove me , He said he will give us a call. that is the status of what's up at the present. thought I'd share that with everyone who has helped me.!! Thanks everyone and Have a Great Day!!
