This faq has been made for anyone that is wondering what Nagra 2 is when you hear other users mentioning it so we thought we would help you out on it and describe it a bit better for you to understand the whole Nagra 2 situation.

What is Nagra 2?

Nagra 2 is a new encryption algorithm that is being introduced by Dishnetwork & Bell ExpressVu.
The new cards posted up above is what will be your new access card for the Nagra 2 stream.

Will I still be able to test after Nagra 1 has completly left the stream?
Unfortunately as of this time (JULY 2005) there is no hack for these new cards which means your devices you are currently using will be no good.
Will I still be able to use my AVR, Atmega, Rom2, Rom3, Rom10, Rom11, DVB/FTA, Magic Card, Dssrev after this new encryption takes over? The answer would be no.

Now, im not saying throw the current devices you own away as they might be some use down the road in either helping to crack the new encryption or running it. At the moment the only thing that is being currently worked on is logging the stream using an AVR or Season Interface 2. As some of you might have been keeping up with the notes that are being displayed on cardcoders about logging different commands to understand what command does what and if you are interested in helping out the community than you are more welcome to post over at cardcoders.org with a log. Just be advised to not ask questions like how do you program and avr or atmega because your post won't get to far as the forums are for the more advanced individual.

When will Nagra 2 start taking an effect?
It has started on some channels already. As of right now for Dish & Bev they are moving the channels in packages. Ex: HDTV, Nascar, Venus, Indian chans, etc. Which will keep going until all channels have switched over and all of us are watching black screens. As some of the DTV users have experienced in the past.

Error 358 Warning Screens, what are these?

Pretty simple stuff actually, these screens will pop up to notify you that the channel you want to watch will be switching over to the new encryption by the set date the pop up provides.
Will I be able to view this channel after that date? Answer would be simply no as it requires the new card to watch the program.
