More lies???
C/P I would like to apologize for the loss of support for the coolsat receiver on al7bar.tk. We will continue to have a download section for the receiver but as for support and help from al7bar.tk we will be unable to do that. Many lies and false promises made to our staff which intern were lies to our members and others within the community. Coolsat was a fly by night company who made it big quick, with the help and at the cost of the credibility of not only al7bar but also members who stuck their neck on the line such as TheDssGuy and Blacklist to name a few. I am ashamed to have been in the middle of this being al7bar.tk and ashamed at the false promises that were expressed by administration here, that was nothing more than a relay of information from coolsat people.

True lack of respect for anyone who has helped him including dealers whom were sold for one price and undercut shortly after, wholesalers who were pumped to buy product then to have items sold to their customers behind their back for $5 less than the wholesalers were charged. The lack of respect and lies being told about blacklist, who in my opinion is one of the hardest working members in the FTA community, I again apologize to blacklist for not understanding what he was explaining to me when he left coolsat for very good reasons.

I can no longer responsibly help support a receiver in which has had so many lies come from. The deception has gotten the best of many and put many in positions that I do not believe is right for any industry. Coolsat has promised card readers for a very long time, in which have no real use. IrdetoII will never work on the coolsat, viaccess2 is also another that was falsely expressed by them to administration of this site.

There are plenty of truly respectful companies out there, that continue to push forward in the FTA world, such as Pansat, Fortec and a couple smaller ones that I will not say much about at this time, so not to put al7bar into the position it got in with coolsat.

Again I apologize for any inconveniences this may cause and rest assured al7bar will continue to bring the latest information regarding FTA.

Just maybe this post and the removal of their sections may change their way.

Thank you
-Forever

i spoke with a cool sat rep

its hard to say wjos tell what he didnt know to much of what was going on with this

yes they have said things about future upgrades and have no produce them yet

but then thats a normal thing in must companies

but then they have a great product that works as good and as well as anything eles right now

so its a tough call whos right or whos wrong

In this case becuase i know both parties I figure and the best advice I can say or tell is just wait and see what happens in the near future

I remember a lil issue about pansat begin of this year then as fast as it came it disappered

So Im just going let it ride for now and see the out come at the end

Things are hard on everyone these days.
Falling sales due to the demise of Bev and the rapid demise of Dish is hurting everyone.
They are forced to lower profit margins to a cut throat level and eliminate things like promises and new programs.
Programmers are losing interest as their money dries up too. Prime example is magician, no more money, no more programs. Nobody works for free (except mods)
Others are either working on P-4 & N2 hacks (or scams) and have no time for their past customers.
I am sure that you all know at least 80% of FTA owners are not really dedicated FTA people they are really dish & Bev Free TV 'ers so hope for the best but expect the worst as the 'hobby' dies a slow death.

I don't think the hobby will die Sj once Dish has hit the dust. You mention that 80 % of FTA is "Free Tv - er's". I don't know if your numbers are correct but the testers that have moved to FTA are not exactly ordinary individuals without some skill.

The "un-skilled" individuals who know nothing but what we tell them, or instruct them, on how to receive 'Free TV" make up most of the members of all forums including this one. These individuals contribute nothing to the hobby. Although the numbers will be much smaller, the hobby will remain even with the demise of Dish to N2. True testers will continue to test, some will make progress, more will not. Even Charlie would hate to see the hobby die, he is a true warlord!

Well 90% or other methods are free TV'ers, the best 'testers' have moved to FTA which requires more than pushing a button to program a card.

FTA will not die any more than B.U.D. died......... it is an extension of B.U.D. and there are some channels that will always be available, just not the channels free Tv'ers want.

I disagree, the free TV 'ers do contribute to the 'hobby', they are the ones that keep the the store / forum owners happy and that keeps forums they suport going. Mili's store keeps this forum going. the money they spend keep them producing new things to buy and new scripts coming from paid coders. They don't make their own $10 J-Tags and Magic cards and Atmegas like the 'true hobbiets do, they buy them for $30 - $40 - $50 each.

Without the free TV'ers it would go back to the early dave days, someone sold the parts and code to get DTV to a few 'knowledgable" people who in turn 'fixed' 10 to 1,000 cards each, no stores, no forums, all business.

The lack of Bev & Dish programming will send the hobby back to a few 'testers' in a few forums again. The only choices left for most will be B.U.D, FTA and a subscription to bev / dish / cable.

They will survive in a limited manner but they will survive.

I suppose I was looking at it strictly from our point of view Jack, we build what we need from scratch. I hope Mili will continue with this forum and look for other avenues of revenue to support it. I understand hosting cost, I was in another type of web business in the 90's. I was always looking for new ways to stay alive, I had lots of competition. I do not have a solution to this problem but I do know for sure that these members will return if N2 is compromised. If it were my venture, I would really try to survive the down time with fta equipment sales and support. I don't think Mili could make much of a profit doing this with fta but it should pay the hosting expense.

It's also possible if Dave helps Charlie fail once again, Charlie may be finished in this business as well. It's like K-Mart -vs- Wal-Mart if you know what I mean. If that is the case, Mili will have no options left either. Seems to be a no win situation either way.

I don't know if you ever saw one of the posts where I described my building a B.U.D dish and IRD from scratch. But I did it when they were $ 7,000 to $ 10,000 including my own design rotator.
I suggested adding FTA / B.U.D. and DVB, torrents won out.
I don't think a N2 hack will hurt charlie whether it is found or dave gives it away.
him and the Co. are both billionares and pirates, many of which already sub, don't really hurt him (as in loss) they just get a free ride on what is sent out anyway to subs. (reduced profits)
No way I would compare it to wally vs. K fart, that is apples to oranges comparison with hard goods sales vs. a few non payers for nothing expended.

His biggest expense with pirates is his own fault, all the money he spent trying for ECM and card chages us. If he left us alone tech wise and just chased us with lawyers or even ignored us we would all be just be freeloaders that lost him a few PPV and Porno's payments.
I wonder how many pirates will sign up and how many will go back to dave for their subs where they came from.......I still have 6 DTV IRD's and 5 Dave dishes set up ready to go, I turn one on once in a while, nostalgia, I can still get the promo's with them even without a card, they are not like dish that needs a card to do anything.

Torrents don't make money.

Although it is unethical, Charlie could make 5 times more money by allowing pirate sites to market his product to those who wish to receive 'Free TV'. As you say, Dave and Charlie have more money than they can spend. But if the government caught him doing that, he would surly go to jail. I read allot about how the FCC controls this business, the rules and regulations involved are unreal. He has to do it right, or not at all.

Un ethical ?
Not to spend millions of (lost, un-productive) dollars to try to stop pirates ? Some retail stores practically ignore shoplifters, just post a few signs and dummy cameras. Many businesses do not even report robberies and other crimes because they never recover money or property anyway and the lost business time and trouble making a report is more expensive than the loss. Never mind if theya ctually catch someone and you have to spend days, weeks or months prosecuting. It is just part of the cost of doing business.
I don't thing the FCC could bither him for not spending a lot of money beyond a "reasonable effort". Bev has not even changed keys for years.

The FCC has a lot of stupid regulations and they change every week. Dave & Charlie are writing some of those changes as well as re-writing laws to suit them selves. Few FCC regulations are even ever read let alone adhered to even by poor people let alone by billionares.

When you apply for a transmitting license the first thng you get is offers for a subscription to the "BOOK" it is updated (changed) more often than the "NOTAMS" (for pilots) or the "Mariners chart change list" for ships. COMBINED) (and that's a lot of changes.) ((AND YOU HAVE TO SIGN THAT YOU READ ALL THE RULES) HEHEHE))

Yes I agree, he would make more money (or at least save money) ignoring most of the "Hobby Pirates" and go after the hundred or thousand card pro's which would fufill any obligation to the FCC.
