when doing a mod, dont back the JTAG off until you test it on your TV, that way you can just connect the 5V and the BFR and you are ready to flash again. I think you just have the wrong flash programmed to your IRD.

If it will power up with the parallel cable hooked up sounds like maybe you cut something you should not have, where did you cut?? Or did you cut anything??

i had the same problem. what i do is plug it in for 3 seconds, unplug for 3, and replug it. as soon as you plug in the last time, hit the power button. you may even have to hit the button a couple of times. i think it is something to do with a slow charging capacitor so teh double plug seems to charge it more. a fully charged capacitor is required to hold the power on. this is why you find it works sometimes and sometimes not. you get pissed off and unplug, look at it and replug.

let us know if this works

ok guys, here is the deal with the address. writing the address in D. panel is opening basically the space the the flash is written to so it can be erased and written to. it's like the M28 chip where if you don't write the addresses in it wont erase or open up so the answer to the question is yes, it is necessary.

This applies to a 420..........

Writing the 20010030 FF and 20010000 FF instructs the processor to enable the flash. If you cut the trace and apply 5v to FP then the developmental routine is NOT nescessary.
Don't take my word, try it...........

For a 430...........

Except for the M28W chip...........

NOTHING is nescessary in developemental panel........just go straight to flash programming save, erase, and reflash.......

Again, don't take my word..try it.........

I don't have a guide, but I have posted here, where I cut the trace and apply 3.3v. I don't have a 430 open to look at where he has you cut the trace, but my method is easier, MUCH easier, than what I see in his guides. No need to solder directly to the flash chip, and 3.3v is all that is nescessary for any 430/431 to enable flash erase and write.

I just downloaded and read mrwhites guides, for the Intel and the STM29W, I don't nescessiarily dis-agree with them there is a much easier way to do both of them.

Johnny.....any chance you can put one of those back to original configuration, not original flash just remove all wire except jtag, and close the traces that you cut? Then I can help you do it my way, which has not failed me for over 60 mods on 430/431/450s, RG and RGA Intel STM28W and STM29W chips.
