Since nagra I is on its last legs and also since the P4 & P5 have not been cracked and since Milli said no wiseguys should get involved in this endevour, I put out this posting.

Next month I am visiting a cousin who is a tp not biologist in a research think tank filled with all type of engineers, mathemiticians, physicts etc, who have enough brain power to compare with other think tanks around the world.

What I am planning on doing is taking a dtv syem with a HU, P4 & P5 (with a mikobu) and also a dish system with a ROM 10 & 101 card (with a programmer). What I would be looking for them to do is to break the locking ability on the cards thus we can access them and reprogram the cards.

What I need is the details that I should be telling them so they can get the desired results, and then I will share in the forum

That's just silly on so many levels I don't even know where to start.

WTF do you mean by silly, a alba with all the toys should be able to do in minutes what has not been done yet.

BTW what I mean by toys are supercomputers, electron microscope and all the reference materials one can poissibly ask for. :flipa: :asshole2:

2004Nostradamus,

No one is trying to be a smart ass..we have just been down the road before..

I know you mean well and your cousins friends maybe smart guys.. but unless they are up to speed in cryptography and already have a good understanding of smart card technology your wasting your time..

The learning curve is not a few hours in a think tank..DTV spent 20 mil to make the card secure, to expect someone that's not directly working in the smart card field to unravel the security put in place by people that have devoted their whole working life to this task is just a pipe dream..

I'm not saying they could never do it.. I'm saying that the time and devotion necessary to complete the task could be months or even years..Its not going to happen in a few hours by guys that are not working with this stuff every day.. and if they are working with this stuff every day you won't need to tell them anything they will know what to do..

Is there confirmation that this is in fact a new card (I am assuming you are speaking of the predominantly white one with the blue DTV logo?)?

So far everything I have seen says it is just a D1 with a new paint job.

Thanks.

It has a new name and a new look, very futeristic, since I have not done dave since black sunday I did not pay much attention, the palce I saw it at was a forum and there was pictures of the card posted.

I will try to remember where I saw it and post here if I find it again.

I have seen pictures of the new one. It is mostly white like stated above. Being a subber of DTV, I haven't heard of any swaps being performed.

Yes that sounds like it.
They were saying there was no mention of a card swap but they are sending the new cards out to everyone.

I think maybe they are worried and it is P-6 with a very low key swap. That is the consensus on the DTV forums.

Thanks for the info guys. It is so hard to find a site that isn't a complete BS storm these days. Refreshing to just see some cold hard facts for once.

That is also the way DTV has done it in the past, as soon as one card comes out they start working on the next one and as they are hacked they just move the rest of the people up the P-ladder to the next card.

So even if the last card is not hacked they have a new problem ready.

Oh that much I know. I've been around since the "F" card days. I am sure there is something in the pipe as a fallback in the event that their current card is hacked. They would be fools not to have a fallback and we all know they aren't fools.

Add to that the fact that their old "cash cow" in the extortion letters to end users is drying up with more and more cases against end users being tossed out by judges and you just know that they will be focusing more and more on securing their stream.
