Converting DishIRD to FTA-ird question

I 've read that you can convert a D*sh ird to FTA ird. I've never seen the file of howto or bins, but they say it can be done. There are others who think it is a waste of time to do so, why not just buy an FTA ird instead.

My thinking is this. If you do convert a D*sh ird to become FTA ird, you are getting a unit that is close to the Pansat 3500s instead of the Pansat 2500. Am I correct on that? If so, I think it is worth doing.

In the public files section some guy posted two bin files, check it out, i havent tryed yet. U`ll need a Hughs Gaebos pack ird, he claims.

DTV IRD can be converted to DISH but is a big job and costs as much as a dish IRD off E-Bay
No you can not make a FTA out of a dish or Dave IRD

If it's cardless it stays that way.
You can buy a 301.10 to test with cheaper.

Then no if it workls without a card it is one of the new ones and you can not test with it without a card.

You would have to buy another one to test with, look for a 301.10 on e-bay they are the easiest and best.

A year or so ago some fellas at interesting-devices took an rca 420re and did some internal mods to the sti processor and got a half ass working fta machine, they had problems with the codecs and sound and at first it was only in black and white picture. Not sure if they succeeded beyond that point. I think it is stupid to change a perfect working ird into something that will not work good, better to pay a buck to buck fifty and get a good fta machine.

Some of them are down to $ 75 U.S. now that they can't be used on Bev & Dish anymore.
