I have a DRD222RD, which I put a good file on it's been running for a few days now and still running. My brothers receivers he says don't work, He has 2 DRD420RE's I got one of them that has not been hooked up for at least 3-4 months. I told him to give me one of his receivers, He gave me the receiver with his hu card, I hooked it up on the same TV that my DRD222RD is hooked up to and it worked fine for about 15 mins.. Then card went call ext. 745 I then reprogrammed the hu with the same file that I have running on my 222 and it worked for about 10 mins and now all it says is "searching for satellite signal" but I watched the receiver go down in front of my eyes and it had a signal a second ago..? when I go to the signal strength screen in the menu it says I have no signal? I assume this means I just made his receiver take that upgrade. I have the J-Tag to modify his receiver, I'm going to follow dss mili's instructions.

If the signal strength is zero, it's not a fault of the mod........more than likely a diode shorted.........

This is a wierd one, like I said after rebooting receiver, it comes on and off really quick "searching for satellite signal" then goes to "please insert access card" IT WILLN'T GO TO "PLEASE INSERT ACCESS CARD" IF RECEIVER DOESN'T GET A SIGNAL! so what I am saying is I think the harmful upgrade from dave is causing this. I think that if I do the NOZKT mod it will work. I am talking about a DRD420RE plus receiver.

Thanks

I had a similar problem with a receiver that had different locals installed. I couldn't get the damn dish lined up. Eventually I figured out that the receiver was on a channel for a local station that belong to a different satellite. (west coast receiver with w/coast locals being pointed at an east coast satellite). I just changed the channel and then signal!

no harmful upgrade from Dave is doing this, I have too many in the field that are fine, I have over 60 420s out and no-one is having this problem

I had the same problem over the weekend. My mom calls me up and tells me that the damn tv went out and i was like "shit i got hashed" but i know it wasn't a big deal. I got to her place and immediately started checking things. turns out that she had a bad wire coming from the multi-switch to the IRD. i replaced it and everything was back to normal. sometimes the obvious is the last thing we check when troubleshooting when it should be the first.
