I called Dish about scribing when they had a special but I had to agree to all new equipment. How would I go about using my current receiver and card and paying for a subscription? I don't want to give them my Soc sec # either---I'd like to pay a year with a check. Anyway to do it?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

Someone posted that he signed up with his own stuff and they asked for the R00 and S00 numbers and signed him up for $ 149 for a year and would send him a N2 card.

I have no idea maybe some one who knows will answer you
There is no ligitimate reason they need your SS#. Never give that number out unless absolutely necessary. Ever heard of identity theft?

I believe the reason they request your social is becuse they are going to run a credit check. Anytime you get a contract on something (ie cell phone) they ask you for it.

Correct, and you have the right to refuse and there ain't shit they can do about it!
There are other ways of getting your credit score, they just ask you for it because it is more convenient for them.
They legaly can not refuse you service even if you refuse to give your SIN/SS#

I believe so, but you will have to Jtag and restream to dish first.
Both providers use the same equipement so I can not see a problem.
They will have to send you a card tough!

probably not, they will want the receiver ID and then they will know it's not theirs. But you never know...
