p210 or not?

Well at this point it's P210 or no tv. So there is no choice you must upgrade.

how do i know if my 301-3100 is running the latest p210 software?
how do i check it?

Push the sys info button on your remote. Look at the line labled
Software Version. Your answer will be there. If the last letter is not
-N (eg P155EAED-N) Your receiver will not upgrade no matter how long you leave it in the stream. No sys info button or it dosen't work. Then press

and how do i put the new software in it?

If you have locks installed turn off both the TSOP and EEPROM locks. Also after the upgrade leave them off. P210 has lock detecting software and will give you a serious error nag if either lock is on. Unless you have the new type lock that uses DQ7. That lock will work but still must be turned off to receive the upgrade. Then switched back on after.

Next tune to channel 101. Turn your receiver off. Wait. Most take 5 to 20 minutes to upgrade. A few rare ones take longer. Watch the green power light. It will come on and blink a few times. When it goes out and stays out your done.

i have the155 error 2! do i need to not put ppv or will it run it with p210?

Isn't the 155 the serious error nag. P210 won't solve that. May have a lock problem or wrong blocker on the cam if your using a cam.
