3700 Or 1000 For Testing Or Sub

I have a 3700 and a 1000 model receiver with the yellow N2 cards previously sub'd for D500 reception by the previous owners. Which one should I subscribe vs the one which would be better used for future testing. In other words, which model is more "tester friendly"

3700 for testing, and the 1000 for subbing. The 1000 does not have a JTAG port
