Those who are still getting Error 019 SmartCard not inserted properly. plz post the type of receiver u have ... I spoke to mili about and he said there are about 6 people who are still getting this error.. I want to see if there is a correlation between the Error and the type of receiver we are using .. Those w/ DP301.010 have u been successfuly w/ the A2 card...
I will start off ..
I have a DP301.010 receiver w/ TSOP and JTAG installed ...
I have tried numerous time to clean both sides of the contact w/ Alcohol... I resorted to sending an email to the A2 developers to see if they have any solution.. The 019 nag screen can disappear if I load the guide and hit the cancel button ... Doing this process several times, the 019 nag will go away.. But this error comes up a dozen or so times a day and it's just a pain to get around it.. Could there be a new software release for A2 that might get around this problem. I remember using the new Polaris on MC2 it helped those that constantly kept getting this error.. Guess there is a price to pay for free tv...
Same problem here. I got two A2 from Mili and tried the first one and got the error 019 after one day. I tried the second and it worked for a day or two, then ...zap...019. Cleaning contacts and/or resoldering contact points didn't help.
Question to Mili or whoever:
Is there some way to reset or update the programming on the A2 ?
Is the epoxy spread over the chips causes resistance/conduction or dielectric effect when it hardens ?
Is there some chemical that can be used to clean out this epoxy ?
There should be some technical support forum for this sort of thing. If there is any please post.

I have both models of the 301, and i kept getting the 019 error, i tried everything that has been posted on this problem, still got the error. So i tried something different. Put just access card in your receiver, let it load all info and guide, when you get a picture, wait 1 minute, then slide your A2 card in under the access card, no more error, has worked every time for me. :) :) :) :)

error 019 after 20 seconds with your method. Definitely a problem with the chip or programming./

If you do this won't your sub card get downgraded.. I just downgraded all my channels .. If you just put in your access card w/out the A2 card right after u downgrade won't u get zapped!!!
pissed Dish wont give me credit on my credit card.. Said they will give me a programming credit.. Bastards!!!
Has any1 downgraded and get the same response from them.. When u downgrade they won't issue u a credit to your cc only to your account ...

well i bought a bunch of a2 cards from mili and i received them last week, anyway they are all being used right now and thats a week almost exactly, the first a2 card in a 6000 receiver with rom 102 has gone error 19 today, i reinserted card and its back up we will see for how long, just an update. i hope they come out with the iso updating soon as some guy in another post here says his card got desubd when he restreamed however on a canceled package, i have only minimized my pacakge. Just to add the card for that 6000 receiver had a date of oct 6th before i subed it, i got it off of ebay and the card was active not desubbed with min packs, anyway i subed and got the max i could inc all three porn channels availabel for monthly subscription, then downgraded back to top 60 only, the expiry date did change it is now in NOV. We will see if it holds up with no more 019 errors and if it then updates tiers, i would feel safer doing so with an iso not throgh the stream, but with a min pack i dont see it being as risky as with a canceld sub, as in theory thats worse. Here is why i think so, for dish network to kill the A2 cards they would have to figure out whcih subs are using them and which arent, how do you tel? you cant kill all subs that upgrade/downgrade since there are legit subs active, or they kill legit ones to, thats to say they base it on the fact that they flag accounts with the give me evrything then downgrade to top 60 scenario, cause you know you are getting flagged if you do so in the next few days after say buying evrything you can (MAX) or close to it, but then again there are some that actually do this legit, i would think anyway, but if you upgrade then cancel, you get flagged, so they keep on sending the desub/deactivate card command to you constantly, since there is no risk of killing subs, since the command is going to only deactivated flagged accounts, and i think they do have the bandwidth to do that constantly to say only 1000 flagged accounts or so, so i do reccomend only downgrading not canceling, same if they roll keys, if they decide to hit these canceled flagged accounts in the next few weeks after a key change they will know that the a2 users will be restreaming their cards and if you have a canceled one, they can easily deactivate it, even if they dont have the bandwidth to send these commands every day, they will after a keychange if it ever happens, but if you only dowgraded, they cant, once again they would not only kill the a2 users but also legit subs who upgraded then downgraded, if based on the upgrade downgrade flag, of course. otherwise the other cards have been working perfect for a week, with no problems, also want to note that the date on my card that the A2 sows as card expiration is almost exactly 2 months form the time i activated. not 45 days.

Ok after some initial problems and occasional 019 errors, today after a 3 day straight run of no issues, my screen frooze and then the dreaded balck screen then the fatal 019 message.
AFter repulling card and reinserting card it all I can get is 019 off the bat. Even tried using AVR piggy back routine I had used earlier to get card working and no results.
Using a 5900 IRD on BEV firmware E546. Access card works by itself, but not leaving in to long as adraid of desubbing it.
Something must be figured out on this, as each time i try and oull A2 or insert it I am affraid I will break it as very tight fit.
Also noticed my N2 card as dibist wher A2 card solder pads connect to it now.
Also a side note whihc may help fix proble. earlier today looked at sys info and showed in normal mode when I noticed freezing I did a sys info before black screen and noticed my card has switched to card expiry mode, but nayways my card is none working as of trying for past 2 hours.

Does anyone know if its a CAPACITOR, CRYSTAL or FUSE coming off the CLK line on the A2?
I'm thinking its a crystal but do not know its value and if faulty could cause our issue's.
Mili can we please get this part value, as if xtal could be same issues with timings and old atmega code and could be remedy with new updated code. If capacitor and faulty when triggers would kill power to card and thus 019 and when cooled off explain why works afterwards and once heats up. If self resetting fuse and triggered means power surges etc. from receiver.
P.S. After waiting 4 hours can use card intermitantly now then get 019.
No, you can not have a parts list for the A2. More than likely, your getting the 019 error because you don't have the card lined up with the contacts correctly. Make sure you have the A2 and rom lined up and fully inserted correctly.

This is not a parts list require, just value of one part which is not a chip. $99 USD card with no support in getting issue resolved or updates on progress
This unique issue is not due to allignment nor dirty contacts. As try using in 6000 IRD as A2 will not change modes, so is relevant to help finding issue.
Also, I had cold solder joint on my resistor as leg poped off, maybe i should just RMA product, rather then looking at fixing what I have.

I had 2 that I used in a 301.010. First one lasted 10 min. The 2nd. lasted 2 days. WOW.......
I have a 301.013 I was going to sub and I just ordereds another A2 but after reading this post I'l not going to buy it.
Here is part of an Email Mili sent to me when I asked about the 019 error. He said, "it seems that your receiver is killing the cards so replacing it on the same setup would be futile.
mili "
And that is a C&P from the email. I'll keep my $99.
It is an UN Mod'ed unit right from DishNetwork.
Last time the were $124 I thought.

The part on the A2 card is a 220 ohm resistor, I had an A2 card that i couldn't get to work on several 301-10s and 301-13s, I changed the resistor to a 150 ohm 1/4 watt, and the card worked good on any 301. Don't use a higher value like 440 ohm they wont work.

Not the resistor, the part on other side of card not attached to chips. Small square peice.

On the side of the card that doesn't have chips, i thought that small square piece under the # 2, was just a solder pad, i melted some of the solder out and didn't find any part, could be somthing there, i am no expert, maybe someone will let us both know.

Hey guys,
I'm getting the same error on both my receivers. One is a claen 4900 and the other is a 3900 with JTAG. The 4900 works once in a while but eventually will give the 019 error and the 3900 won't work at all.

i have used quite a few of the activator 2 cards and here is what i have found dont have any of the cards with the resistors i got mine about 3 weeks ago and they are all running fine, got one 019 error after the first week on my 6000 and reinsereted card and still going since with no error. i have tried several different receivers and most no problems however i have one 301.13 receiver that as soon as i inserted the card it gave me the 019 error and i tried moving the card around and evrything else and nothing, finally i put in the rom 102 in first adn let the signal download 1 to 5 then when it started downloading guide i just inserted the a2 card, as soon as it started downloading the guide data and its all working fine for a few hours now, granted this 301 had plenty of room in the card slot to be able to slide the a2 card under the card whcih is inserted, whcih under normal tight slot circumstances you would not be able to do without possibly breaking the a2 card, but maybe this will help a few. and this same a 2 card works with no problems in other 301.13 receivers as well as 301.10s and 6000 and 501s, so what could this be?
ps cant wait for the iso programming tier update files!! i will be needing them very soon!

I have been having trouble with my new A2 card on my BEV 5800 (same as 508). I have cleaned the contacts and used isopropyl alcohol on the contacts and nothing seems to work - I always get the smart card not inserted error.
I can't even fit it into my 3100 slot my other receiver so I gave up on that one.
Does anyone else have any new advice for the A2 to work on a pvr 5800?
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried piggy backing off a AVR card or 745 board?

I received my A2 today and I am very disappointed in the results. Error 019 is all I get on 301's and 4900 works for a little while then goes 019. I noticed no major replies to fix this problem so whats up! Too much money to just throw away on worthless equipment. If anyone has some good suggestions please let me know what I can do.

Not really into all that techno stuff. That was not in the deal when i ordered the A2. Supposed to be plug& play. Too many people having the same problem for it to be ignored like this.

I would have never bought this if I knew you had to replace resistors or whatever to get it to work. It was supposed to be plug + play. I am going to try to get some support on this thing as everything I have tried does not work.
If anyone is having similar problems plase post and try to get some support. It seems that i doesn't matter what receiver you have but I have noticed more complaints with XVU than DN.

Never mind, found it, soldered it and it works, so far. Thought it was screwed, the last bit I wasn't even getting the error, just black screen. Wish I had tryed this before getting pissed off and ordering an FTA. Ahh what the hell, bell sucks even when it was free, so to speak.
