Using your PVR/DVR to record CABLE TV!

I've got a 5900/510 PVR - a nice 120 GB hard drive to record my shows. Does anyone know of a way to use it to record cable tv. I know can not change channels of brng up a guide but can it record channel 3 whe I hit the record button?

Only way that could work would be to get a video capture card for your computer, and put the drive into the computer as extra storage.

You can forget about doing it with the native hardware. It has no way to receive any video source other than what it decodes from the mpeg stream coming down from the sat's. The turner is not able to decode a normal NTSC video transmission.
