I have to agree, patients at this point would be wise. A hack for the rest of us will be released shortly, I am sure. Mili even said he has something. A DVB would be cool though. Especially now that they have a solution for us.

You're absolutely right. Unless you've already got a DVB card there is no reason to rush out and get one. The only exception would be if you like to record stuff and burn to DVD.

Solutions to the more conventional stuff will be along shortly I imagine.

However I am wondering, will someone wanting to test with dish equipment need to acquire a rom101 rev 007 card, or do you forsee atmega's or avr's with n2 test solutions in the near future?

I can't believe the hack became a reality... dish spent a SHITLOAD of money doing the n2 switchover and I am sure they hoped they would end up like dtv did with an unhacked card. It would not suprise me if they aggressively went after sites selling test equipment now... of course there is always nagra3, which they might do sooner as opposed to later - now that they have been through a card swap they know what to expect and how to make it go smoother the next time around. Or maybe they will get fed up with nagra and switch to a new system, of course then that would require an ird swap which is a different animal. :)

I really feel that there will not be a hack this time, or atleast not now. The n2 has been around for over a year and still no real progress. I think the sat companies won this one, but its been a hell of a free ride!!!

I wonder where the atmega section went? If there's going to be a solution for the dish receivers, my money's on the atmega. Just got to get the NNW guys to engineer a flash based on the FTA code, and then we can see what we can see.

well, with dvb and fta, they already have a gui (interface) made to do the writing to their respective memories.
with plastic, a new gui has to be made to either work with current dn cards or some sort of card that will dupe the dn cards, and possible produce/find a card that will dupe the dn card. thats why it was easier for them to get up and running, because they didnt have to change gui's to load the n2 data to their machines.

Also can you let us know when mpeg 4 will be on your stream so we can get ready for that, it takes time to build fta mother boards as you I am sure know.

I can't beleive you guys in Cheyenne have time to post on the message boards escpecially after getting your skirts blown off by the community, shouldn't you be testing ECM's and making new pirate card channels?

Just an uneducated guess but, Atmega may prove to be "the way" .From my understanding it will handle the load well and has "unique" properties well suited for this testing.My three penny weight's....
