Vid Mod Question

Does anyone know if you have to reverse the vid mod on a 510 that has been running the blue card to run the yellow and get vid. I have tried everything I know to get address 7FFFFFAC to change from 0000 back to D500 I must be losing my mind. I am getting the now sub'd card to bring down all the channels that are subscribed but when they come down they are black. I get audio on 300 and 303 hbo I don't know wtf is going on. Can someone help me please? I even put the original P080 files on the damn thing and when it gets to updating receiver it sticks in the acquiring sat underneath.

This worked for me in reversing the 508 back to a 510. I had a sub'd card that had just been activated but no video. The channels were coming down but they would be black.

This part is pretty standard and most folks should know it. You might not need to do it unless you are changing the box keys.

1. Saved both flashes that were at p301 as a 508 which I had been using with blue card.
2. Put the P080 software of flash 2 and wrote a virgin EEPROM (made with flash edit)to the EEPROM.
3. Upsized the HDD from 80gb back to 120gb and did a quick zero
4. Hooked all cables up and let the receiver marry the HDD


1. With the HDD resized to 120gb and quick zeroed I flashed Flash 2 only with the 508 software that I had saved that was at p301 after erasing the 2 flashes.
2. Using the 3 wire vid mod what I do is to hook a 9 volt battery up to wires A and B get the negative side of 9 volt and wire C gets the positive side.
3. Hook up all cables and plug up receiver with no card wait 15 minutes then push Rom 102 card in.

I hope this helps someone it drove me freaking nuts trying to get the video the channels would come down with no video. I checked 7FFFFFAC and it was still at 0000 but I guess that it can stay at 0000 with the yellow card something else in the flash was screwy.

i know this threads a couple of weeks old,just ran across it,but i'm having a similar problem myself,i can't get anything but preview channels with the yellow card,keep getting the 005 nag,rezeroed hd and wrote virgen f 2 & eeprom, still same problem.anybody got any ideas? thanks

I saw a 510 with the 005 nag that I couldn't get rid of. Evidently the guy had put the card in a 301 and it did something to it. Evidently the yellow card when it marries the ird rec and box keys it uses them to enable its decryption. I read about it over at cardcoders. You might try calling dish and trying to get your card re-activated without the phone line of course let them know you only have a cell phone. After the reactivate it if it still doesn't work you will most likely need a new card. If you figure out something please post it.

Also I used the Trex I think it was called it showed that the cards expiration date had passed since it hadn't been in the stream for over 60 days the card had expired thats why we thought calling would get it to work again. We never got the card to work had to order a new one after trying to re-activate that one 2 times.

Okay, so I have a 508 and am suffering with the same thing.

I had a new car sent to me from Dish because I did not have a yellow card (the original yellow card was subbed on another 508) I called and had them send me a card, and that card was put into the receiver with 0x7FFFFFAC reading 0x0000. So today I built a JTAG and reflashed it back to 0xD500 and double checked to make sure it was successfully overwritten.

Indeed it was, the blue card now does not work (gets the old compatibility error) and my yellow card is still getting a 005 nag. I'm not exactly sure how to go about fixing this, I may try to go through the procedure Mr. Snuffy outlined above.

Does anyone know if there is anything else to do?

if you got rid of the 0000 ,you may need to call charley get them to send down the signal again. how did you rewrite the t sop to get d500 back?

Does anyone know what the default error code is when a receiver needs to be activated? I JUST had this card swapped, so it shouldn't be a problem... I just don't know what to tell them...
