The VP102G is the same of VP1022, twinhan only put a new heatsink to LM317, and added a resistor to a diode located near to frequency selector.
Take a look to the metal where there are the F female conectors IN and OUT and you will find a sticker paper or label like that VP102G, bellow that label is market the real name of the card VP1022A.

I pulled the sticker off and indeed it IS a VP1022A, so I assume it will work

First of all, J5063...
Your C/KU dish setup is great if you have a Digital/Circular polorized LNB. This is not likely though as the larger dish's use linear LNB's. Many of us have added an LNB from an old DTV or DISH setup to the system to work with the DVB cards or any other FTA receiver. You can usaully find these LNB's for free and there easy to install by just strapping it to side of current feedhorns. When placed correctly you'll be adding a LOT of new channels.

I think ziggything has already figured this out, but your TV cards are not DVB. Sorry but wont work.

depending on what interface u use ....prog dvb is the easiest.....all u need is a filez to decrypt the stream....

I just checked that card at tigerdirect and it looks good. I have one question. I know it is a little off topic, But is there a way to have the output go to a television?? The only connections on the back of the card are for input only. If I were gonna try this, I would rather watch it on my tv. I have a 22 inch monitor and Im sure it would be more than sufficient, but it would look better on my 32 inch television. Thanks for any info, Gary

P.S. I have an nvidia card with an s video output on my computer now. Could I output the signal to the tv there??

Yes, correct you have to have a digital TV with that sat card and good video card on computer. I use DVI output to 1080 i output from the computer video card and can surf the internet as well on 60 inch LCD, way too cool. :cool:

If your video card has an s-video or composite output then you can direct the video to your tv monitor. This is done in the monitor's control panel advanced function.

I have a radeon 9600 with a twinhan 102g hooked up to my s-video enabled tv monitor.

:) Running MyTheatre with a modest AMD 1.2 GHZ Athlon CPU and a Azus 7100 AGP graphics board ( 32 MB and TV out ) ... VP102G is OK ... It doesn't always keep up with fast video, but it's acceptable ... :) M$ Win 2K, 512 MB PC133 RAM ... Hard drive is an old 5400 RPM type ... Will try some recording testing next .... :) I notice that that these boards need a strong signal, probably not as sensitive as Charlie's IRD's ... Blokes down under use 1 meter dishes ! .... :)

Does Any one know if the Twinhan Starbox (USB) will work ;) ? Have been reading all night and cant find any listing of it actually working by anyone. Certinly the Twinhan PCI cards do but what about the USB version..

Have checked the mfg site and it will supprot "home theatre" but .... what about the ht plugins? Since the decoder is hardware will the plugins work properly. I have an FTA dealer literly down the street and will pick one up asap

If any one Knows please advise...

If you are buying a dvb card (dvb-s card - i.e. dvb satellite) you should check which software it works with. You want a card that is compatible with a wide range of software. Decryption is done with soft cams (software) so you do not need a hardcam (in Europe they must offer the ability to use interchangable cams with receivers so dvb cards have hardware cams so people can use their subbed cards).

You can get a hard card (i.e. Nexus) or a soft card (i.e. Twinhan). The difference is that a hard card uses onboard processing to display the video, the soft card uses dvd codecs and your video card to display the video.

What is viewable and for how long?

The $64,000 question. Any dvb signal is veiwable if the encryption has been broken. You can check xxx.lyngsat.com for a list of dvb signals. (Charlie, Bev, etc). The big question in NA is how long N2 will be open. Any answer is a guess. 102's not cracked and Bev did not use 101's so Bev is not up yet.

Some signals are sent out using other methods of modulation (dvb cards do Qpsk). DishHD uses 8PSK and is unavailable until a card comes out that does 8PSK or a add on unit is development (one is developed but awaits production).

Some cards (mainly twinhans) also allow reception of dss signals (ie. Dave). The only software that works is Tsreader. There is no public plugin available (i.e. softcam) but NDS videogaurd has been emulated by the Italians and a plugin has been developed (you need a valid card to get the keys but then it is all open - keys must be updated in a stb i.e. smartmouse cannot autoupdate keys). Testing is occuring to see if it will work in NA.

Most antennas will work. Some will require a special ini file (transponder list by satellite) so that they can adjust for the internal switches in the dish (i.e. dishpro, legacy quad). Bigger is better since the cards typically receive signals at a level lower than a stb. However, it is a digital signal, so if the signal is strong enough to receive then you have a perfect signal.

Found out by trail and error that the broadlogic sat internet cards will also work if they are reflashed. Got one on ebay for 30 bucks reflashed it and used my old DTV switch box and two dishnet lnbs and works like a champ. It did not come with a remote but using a old ir interface and winlirc I now have a remote. Using a 1 gig dell puter and Mytheatre which has a great epg guide built in. Cheapest card I have found so far.

It is in with the package i got with the drivers. it is part of the upgrade of drivers. got the card by mistake thinking it was a 2030/1030. Did not respond to a disque switch or a sw21 well but does work really well with the old DTV switch. Channel changes are instantly. The dtv switch also gives outputs for 4 units.

Before buying this card I just want to know how it works? I look at the picture of the card and there is a Composite Video input. Is that for satellite input? Or it has to go through something else before the card?

I had just read that 3.31 Mytheatre supports these cards that was the upgrade from 3.30. I had just ordered two I'll check back tell you how it works. I still havent figured out how to get the nexuas-s changing channels instantlly but can get if click over to nasa and to another channel after maybe a couple of times but it will go. So I'm expecting the same thing with this card. Also using ATi radeon x700pro s video out watching on tel big screen. I would suggest buying mytheatre becuse the trial versions and hacks all had problems in them I always ended up with the evil mircosoft blue error screen. I had also read that the software that comes with the cards is usless but after playing with the nexaus-s software I had started picking up some stuff. but not of good quialty picture. I had only been at this about 4 weeks but not much time to play with working alot of over time and a new baby. Hope this is a little helpful to somebody.
