With a little reading you will find that Mili has stated that a cardless solution will be out in a couple of weeks. Just sit back and enjoy what is left of the N1 stream and be ready for N2.

My curiosity is will it be based on the 101cam or the 102. seeing how some of the channels have been pulled from the 101 its compromise will be short lived.

Confirmation from a reliable source says that 102 has been dumped.
Does a cardless solution mean receivers with cards or without? thanks.......

Well,
It is not my place, but I really get pissed when people who have no idea about anything line up and jump on other peps who come here to share info and rumours about hacks. Just because you might not know about it doesn't mean it is not out there.
I got bashed when I shared the info about the ROM101 hack, then again when I posted about the DVB's.
Same shit, F'in idiots who have nothing better to do than bust someone else's balls because they are not in the know.
Just as an FYI, the Atmega, AVR's, Magic Card, N2 board have hardware capable of decrypting N2, unless they step up to the higher encryption rate, which is a big???? for me at that point.
Go do something useful and work on S/W for the Atmega. The source code for the NNW is out there, and just needs to reworked for the new encryption, keys, and a bunch of other stuff.
Have a nice day,
Bobcat

Cardless means FTA or Free To Air. They run cardless.

I personaly doubt they can bump up to the higher encription at this time as the older IRD's will not work. in turn pissing off clients with older hardware.

Then they will sell them NEW hardware, it is going that way soon anyway since the old ones can not handle the full N2 and a watered down version is out there for them.
Add to that the new mpg compression they are going to put in and almost all the old IRD's are gone soon anyway. Maybe taking the FTA's with them. I don't know if they will be compatable .

Tbelisle,
What are you basing that on.. as far as I know all of the IRD's are running the new N2 cams sent out by Dishnet work..even the IRD that came with the old rom2 cards are now running the new cards sent out for replacements.. Its true that some of the IRD has limited memory but this info is on the new cards not the Ird..

512K TSOP and other single TSOP .bin models like the 4700-4900 and the 2700-2800 and even the 301.13 can handle the load now but it won't be long before the dual TSOP models will be the only game in town, if you did not get rid of any you had it may be a good time to do so.
512 will go first
single TSOP (1MB) will go last
There are a lot more chapters left in charlies N2 game, he can step it up several different ways whenever he chooses to do so.
IT ain't over for either group yet.
The fat lady is still warming up.

Dish cannot force their client base to buy new hardware. There would be some legal action taken. If dish wants to kill their old hardware with their customer base they are going to have to replace the equipment for them.
What this comes down to now is how many older style receivers are left out there with legitimate subs. Simple cost benefit analysis to be done here. Is it cheaper to step things up to shut us down while at the same time forcing their own hand to replace hardware again (reciever swap, or card swap). Or is it cheaper to run an ecm based approach simmilar to that with N1.
These people are only really responsible to one thing, the bottom line. More often than not they will go with the most cost effective approach to deal with a problem.
If dtv is hacked then they will have piracy attrition with people cracking the other provider. If their best guess puts them at an 'acceptable' level of signal theft then I would not anticipate any sort of hardware swap, just an ecm based approach.

receiver swap? hell yeah, i will be a sub. i wanna start testing cardless receiver. i just love frying circuits. if dish make customers pay for damaged receiver? they ain't gonna get any customers. cuz i ain't going to be responsible for shitty hardware they put out and expect me to pay for it when it breaks.

theyll give the updated receivers away as long as the subscriber commits to a year or two further subscription...with a valid credit card on file of course.........you dont fulfill your end of the bargain, they bill your card to settle up...if im not mistaken...both services have an insurance program for $5 per month that will replace free of charge any damaged hardware..i have this plan on my dtv sub for my samsung hdtv receiver with a subbed p4 card...both slaves are covered as well

Could DN swap out Ird for duel Tsop models.. sure they could..but why would they do this.. If they try to force people to purchase new equipment they will loose a ton of customers.. I mean hell DTV will give me 4 room system for free.. why in the hell would I buy new equipment.. I would just switch..
I'm afraid I agree with Smithers on this one..I don't look for a Ird switch out any time soon.. plus if we indeed break the RSA so the keys are easy to get..DN will have invested a ton into a project that will backfire on them..they will be worse than back to square one.. because all of there systems will soon fall to testers..If a hack is worked out for the cardless ird..They would have to develop a whole new system..
Time will tell but I don't see then throwing good money after bad.. If I was them I would put my money in better ECM's that will be much harder to repair..
