510 Question

Does anyone know if I can use any other receiver with a sub'd 510 card other than a 510? Can a 301 be flashed with 510 software and work? I saw where smiling jack posted something but can't find it.

What you do is use flash edit to change the IRD# and Boxkeys in the 301 flash file to be the same as the IRD# and BK of the 510. Then you reload the 301 flash(with new numbers) to the 301. it's called cloning. do a search for it, or we can help you here. then your yellow card will work in both IRd's

In theory, all you need to do is match your IRD and box keys to 'clone' and switch cards between most IRD's. There might be some new tricks hiding in the N2, so no guarantees it's gonna work for every IRD until we get some more feedback and experience with cloning IRD's for use with N2.

From my experience, because your 510 card will be looking for SK`s, you can only clone to a receiver that has a locked sector - 301-013. You would need to edit the 301`s last sector (locked sector) to match the 510`s locked sector using a hex editor. That is, IRD#, BK`s, 0003, and then 80 byte SK`s. I have been unable to get a 510 N2 card to work in any other legacy type ( no locked sector) receiver. Good luck

Thanks JT and Dave I was curious to know if anyone had succesfully done it? The stuff you mentioned Dave sounds like it would work but I am not to good with the hex editor. If you do get one to clone could you pm me please. Thanks for the input.

I succesfully cloned a 510 not a big deal but I did it if someone needs help.
