Quick question because I don't have time to look.

Can a FTA receiver work with a sw-21 switch or do I have to get a DiSEqC switch?

Short answer... yes you need a disesq.

Long answer... Even with a disesq you might have a ton of problems. The problem is that most of the 13V/18V switch power circuitry on the FTA cards is poorly designed, and either works intermittenty or not at at. After endless evenings, two different FTA boards and several switches, I finally just ran two cables from my dish and wired them to a remote control RF switch. Works like a charm (I just gotta know which satellite I'm on.)

Damn that seems like a pain in the ass. I'll take a stab at the switch first and see how it goes.. They are only like $5-$8 anyways

If your receiver supports a 22k switch, most do, then that is what I would use. It is just an A-B switch, but works much more reliably that a DiSEqC if you only want 2 sats.

After re-reading, I should clarify that my experience was with an FTA DBS card, and not with a receiver, which might be better designed.
