How To Clone A 301 to 501

So I have 2 subbed 301.010's and I want to clone them to my 2 501's, how do I do that? I mean whats the deal here? I cant just change the IRD# and Boxkey like before? What do I need to do?


If its the same for the 501's then at this point no one has figured out how to do it.

I have been working with my 510 since the switch started and have not been successfull.

The card is either recogonizing that its the wrong receiver or its looking for something else in the receiver thats not there or....... who knows.

wont be able to try it until I get the new cards in the mail, but I do have backups from all 4 IRD's

I thought I read somewhere that because of the vidmod on the 301.013's and 510's it will not work, but with a 301.050 and a 301.010 it will work. Just cant find the info now that I need it. I knwo that the 501.050 and the 301.010 dont need vidmod, so in theory it should work.

Has anyone tried a 301.010 to a PVR? preferably a 501.050



Let me just say that I know another thread exists for cloning, but I would like to figure this thing out and not have it complicated and thread jacked.

301.010 to 501.050 Any ideas, on what might work or has anyone done this yet?

From being at other sites, this is what I gather.

If both IRDs have no secondary keys, you're good to go.

Example - a 301.010 and 501/508 with DT chips can be cloned into each other
Example - a 301.013 and 501/508/510 with GT chips canot be cloned 2 each other


From what I can gather, secondary Keys are found in IRDs with locked sectors: 301.013, 501/508/510's with "GT" flash chips. (units that require a Vmod)

So I will be testing this theory on the weekend and keep everyone posted. If what I believe is true than you can clone any IRD to another as long as neither of them needed a vid mod (GT chips) 301 to 501

here's the responce.

I have tested by switching a Rom 101/Rom 102 between the original married IRD's (301.010/301.013) and 501/508 [dt chips] - cards work in cloned IRD's fine. Even though my 301.013 has SK's, the 501/508 has DT chips (no vod-mod/no SK's] so the card still works in the clone. Won't work for a 510 [gt chips] without messing with the SK's, though I read in other threads that it is posisble to mod these.

You are correct that if you are chaning IRD/BK's in a 501/508/510 you will need to remarry the hard drive.
