Hello I have a 721 that I had working with a rom10 now that they have changed to N2 I purchased a sub for it. It has been working fine till yesterday I came home to watch rockstar on the east coast so I pulled the yellow sub and put in my blue rom10. I have done this before and it has worked great. But this time it just stays on the searching for satellite signal I left it in for about two hours still nothing. I then put the yellow sub back in and the same thing happened. After another hour I tried the menu and I could use the guide and pvr but when I tried to select a channel it go's back to the searching for satellite. I can pvr a show and then watch it but I can not select a current program. I called dishnetwork (was on the phone for 6 hours) and they said they would put a hit on it and to leave it off for 1/2 hour. That did not work. I have reset it did a check switch unplugged it everything with same results. Is my receiver broke now? I did try the A2 activator on it ,do you think this is what broke it? It did work for a few days after I used the A2 but I noticed that it left some big indentions on the card. Should I try the phone line? I love this reciever I have even heard it called digital crack. Thanks :) :) :)

Go into the system set-up of your unit and select the factory default settings option (I'm at work so I can't tell you exactly which menu, but it's easy to find). It will restore your unit to the original factory settings - you will lose all your favorites and stuff like that, but doing this has worked on similar problems I had experienced with my 721.
Good luck!

Stinkfist,
I too have a 721, I find the latest firmware kinda buggy, just minor stuff though. All I did was power down and power back up. If resetting it back to factory defaults ( I can't believe DN didn't suggest that of the phone! Typical helpline  ) doesn't work, you may wanna try a hard reset. Try this with your subscriber card in the card slot; Press Menu,#6,#3, Info, >button,<button, this should bring you to a memory dump screen. Now press the TV/Video button, it should come up with a message that the memory is corrupt, now power it down using the power button on the remote. Leave it off for about 1/2 hour then power back up. Hopefully that works...
PS, I was the one that referred to it as digital crack, I'm hooked on it!

That work great thanks for your help. I think it is funny that you guys know more then Dishnetwork does. I noticed that I can only go ahead about two day on the guide now and some of the PPV movies and local channels are not there. Will this just take a day or two to come in? I have switched from all channels and sub on the remote and no change. Thanks :) :)

The channels will come back you just have to wait for the guide update at 2am in the morning. The guide only shows two days because of the software problem.

Glad you get it going. The 721 can be kinda flaky some times . Kinda surprises me that all these Dish Network employees scanning these boards don't learn anything from them :)
