am trying to mod 430rg with intel chip. Got the flash on and virginized eeprom and still get "serching for satelite". There is enough power going out to the lnb, 13 to 18v. I've written and rewritten the flash and eeprom few times and still get the same thing. can some one please help a brother out.
thanx

Looks like several people have had this exact problem lately,,,I don't know what to tell anyone anymore,.....I have done 60+ of the 430/431/450/485 mods and the only problem I ever had was the searching for satellite signal, on one, but reflashing cleared it right up.....
I do not advize ever connecting directly to a flash chip on a 430, there are 3 different flash chips, that I am aware of, and the pin outs are not identical between all of them. It is best to cut the trace close to the processor and then apply 3.3v to enable the flash chip, that works for ALL types of flash chips. Actually the way I connect them is quite simple and easy to do, and I have yet to see a 430 series IRD that it would not work on.
I know it's frustrating to get one that fails after the mod. It's frustrating to keep seeing the same problem time and time again too.

skinerd is right. even me as an experienced modder is having that problem right now with 2 430's. when i start testing them again tonight and post the mistake we all have been making. my first thought would be to restore the original flash back on the IRD and see if it goes back to normal. sometimes you have to retrace your steps in order to go forward. if anyone didn't save their flash, e-mail or pm me with an address and i will send you one.

ok here is what i have gathered from testing for a friggin hour with no good results. for everyone getting the "searching for satellite" error, your IRD was damaged even before you flashed. for a normal working 430, it is supposed to do a bootup sequence (the little orange bar) and then you would be able to watch tv. i have never seen a 430 not boot up in that way and work. i guess i got 2 shitty IRD's in 1 day.

If anyone has one of these to send to me I'd sure like to take a look, based on what I have learned trying to help others, maybe we can get to the root of this problem. I'd like to get one that was know to be good before the mod was done........although there is probably more than one reason for this happening, maybe we can figure a few of them out.
If anyone has one to send I'll pay return postage. PM a reply if interested.
Also I believe it would be a good idea to test them before modding to be sure it works before modding, so you won't blame the mod for a problem that was already there. I normally test only the ones that I purchase, before modding...........
