I think you have your card inserted wrong. The card must be inserted upsidedown (chip face up) in the mikobu III.

Leepdog, the extra ps2 power plug is fine just dangeling back there...it won't hurt anything. I just wouldn't plug both your 9v adapter and the ps2 at the same time. It's one or the other, not both. You are way better off with the wall wart.

Most loaders like in the vicinity of 7.5 to 9 volts ...
The PS2 puts out about 4.5 volts ...

With the correct dac settings and an external power supply the unit should work better ... Plus with the PS2 your loader is on as long as your PC is on ...
There is no need to keep a loader powered on all day ..
