We have just purchased a Fortec Ultra (don't even have it home yet) and the person whom we bought it from says he only has the "switch" that gets one satellite. He doesn't have the switch to get both in but The Other Half is thinking he can get a "switch" from somewhere else. He called and asked me to look on these forums for some info about it.
I really don't know what he's talking about, even after reading several posts. I saw a SW1 (?) and DESQ (?) in the forums. The Other Half says we have a S21 switch outside (?) but that also means nothing to me.
Can you buy a switch any old place or do you have to go through one of the dealers on these sites?
Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry to be a dope but...
Since we didn't even get the receiver home, should we take it back to the guy to redo?

Well unless you plan to watch FTA channels. Getting DN on FTA may be history. Time will tell.....

Do you have the dish (single or double) on the roof? If that answer is yes, which kind and which LNB's. If you plan to watch DN with FTA you will need a DisEQc Switch. :)

dude.....a switch..in and of itself...switches between lnb's.......here's the rule...if you want to hit two satellites, you need two lnb's.....doesnt matter if they are singles or doubles....one lnb per satellite..period!......get a dish 500 with two lnb's to go with that desqc switch

I'm about as clueless as the author of this thread.. I need to figure out how get my Fortec lifetime ultra working. Is there a tutorial or someone that can give me the steps I'm better at 10 steps than reading a tutorial.
Thanks

Tutorial = 10 or 20 or 30 steps. 10 steps = Tutorial (I think) What do you have in your roof? If you have nothing, you will need a dish with double LNB (one or two outs) aimed to... a DiseQC switch, your wires and your receiver loaded with a couple of files and some information given to the receiver.

okay, so do I flash it with the fortec file or the ulta281? is anything else needed?
Hi, I just bought a Fortec and reading this post it iseems s inline with my problems. I had an existing single lnb dish setup, actually a bev dish/lnb. I hooked up my fortec, signal strength was low. I altered some settings on the antenna setup and now quality/strength are good but when I save an exit it goes back to normal. Does my current lnb work with the fortec? Or do I need a dish 500 pro? I was told legacy wont work or something. Thanks for the help.

Jroc, I gave you an answer to you in your other thread.
Now, you can use the legacy LNBs, but you will not get all the channels. For that you will need a channel list acording to your set-up. Everything else is almost identical.

You know something we don't? Why would you say that? If N2 is up and running right now on fta....... and that there is also a confirmed dump on the 101 and unconfirmmed on the 102... You have some inside info to share with us.........
:)
