Okay,
someone please let me know if this will work.
I have a pansat 3500s FTA receiver that had the last BL's bin on it before the recent key change.

Do I
1) downgrade the firmware back to manufacture's firmware
2) then load the new bin.

or do I need to do a factory reset and if so at what point???
after the loading on the manufacture's bin or prior to downgrading to the manufacture's bin.

Any Help would be appreciated since I am very green when it comes to Free To Air.

Happy Testing.

Ok
I'm getting flash update fail during the downgrade and the upgrade.
I was able to save the channel list do a factory reset and restore the list.
I think the problem is the % completed counter on the computer it is much slower than on the receiver. I am clicking on the app only button when I am doing this. Should I just select the boot only button???? I do not want to screw things up so If you guys can help it would be great.

Ok I answered my own question.
The problem was the null modem cable was too slow for the flash upgrade.
i copied the bin to a smart digital card SD card and voila everything worked like a charm and it was 100 times faster. So from now on i am going to use this method to do the upgrades and down grades.
channels that did not work before are now working including porn.
Congrads to all who made this possible.
the turn around time was incredible.

Also the new keys if anyone wants to try these with the old bin

key 0 d6 96 e1 ce c0 00 ad 0f
key 1 b6 75 c5 a5 8b 0b 23 1a

I got these from the new bin it whould be interesting to know exactly what BL did if this was just a simple key change or a major firmware overhaul. If this was just keys then we all could do this ourselves without waiting for the new bins.

I am having the same problem and it was driving me crazy! It would get to 80% or 90% and fail with a "failed to flash" error popup box.

As you stated the numbers on the receiver were flipping a lot faster than the download status bar on the PC. Thanks for sharing how you fixed it. I guess I will have to invest in a SD card and reader... mo' money. You would think that there was a way of adjusting the baud?

Now I am confused!! Just how can the receiver swallow the data faster than the computer can provide it??? Even if the receiver is faster, it cannot digest anything that isn't there.

What probably happened is the data got corrupted during the download.

I do not know how educated are you in computers, but I would sugest to give it a little service (just to eliminate any posibility related to your computer). try a system clean, the stinger, Ad-Aware and Spybot (my favorites) and a Defragment.

After that (did you check the Baud rates? Should be 115...)! And try again!!! :)

115.2k is a fast rate for serial ports. Many older PC's cant handle this. If you can try lowering the baud rate to even as low as 9600 baud to have more reliability.

NO THE RECEIVER DOES NOT HAVE A way of checking the checksums it times out and that is it.
smaller files like the channel list work fine with the cable and also keep in mind that these hacked bins have extra code which interferes with the next bin.
The SD card I think is the best way to go since you do not have to worry about your laptop running out of battery or tripping over a cable during this critical process. You can get a chap SD card since the file size of the bin was only under 800Kb so a 16Mb SD card is plenty for this process and you can always use this card in digital cameras. So I think from investment perspective it is not much and you are sure the receiver will download the file from the SD card quicker and error free.

Right... But a lot of data will be lost at faster speeds... With slower speeds serials are more reliable. But agree on SD being better if you can do that...

Please, can you upload the Bin you used, and please tell me step by step how to use the SD card. I have the Pansat 3500s.

In the menu you will see the button for the SD card, put the sd card with the bin file copied to it.
highlight the file and you will see another button to do the update.

I would first downgrade the firmware to the manufactures bin also by copying it to the SD card
then repeat with the new test bin.
to put the bins on the sd cards you need an sd card reader for your computer.
