I got this from another site

MT and Twinhan 1020a, 102g and Starbox USB setup guide.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Twinhans 1020a, and 102g work just fine. Do not buy the twinhan 1022, as they have problems.
You can use this guide to setup other DVB cards.

Now let's set them up.
You will need a DVB software like DVBdream, ProgDVB, RitzDVB or MyTheatre. They are freeware except for MyTheatre ($40) but it is well worth it. Personally, I use Ritz and MyTheatre. You can download them from the net. Just type their name in Google and it will take you to them.
Install DVB card in a free PCI slot and turn comouter on. Microsoft has all the drivers for the Twinhans. So when turn computer on, it will detect the card and ask you to search the net for drivers. Click "Yes" and they will be installed for you. DO NOT install the software that came with the card. It is useless to us, as there in no provision for pugins and such.
Download the "Decoders" from here: hxxp://www.ultimatetesters.com/foru...read.php?t=8549 and run it. (You must download all four parts and run the first one). Do not install all codecs. Just Cyberlink and Intervideo. More codecs, more conflicts!!!
Next install the DVB software, I recommend MyTheatre because I am very familiar with it. If you downloaded it from the author's site (dvbcore dot com), it has full functionality except it will shut down after an hour but you can just restart it. This limitation is it's copy protection. If you like it, you can contact Saar in same site, pay $40 and get activation code. But for now let's use the unregistered version.
First take a little time and read the online manual to get aquainted with MT (MyTheatre). Turn you computer off, connect LNB cable in back of the card. There are two connection, one is "LNB IN" and the other "LNB OUT". Obviously, connect it to LNB IN. Do not connect or disconnect LNB cable while MT is running or you will fry your DiSEq or LNB. Now turn computer on. Download "Plugins" from here: hxxp://www.ultimatetesters.com/foru...read.php?t=8557, unzip, take to contents of Plugins file and drag them in MT's Plugins folder (C:\Program Files\MyTheatre\Plugins). Or just take the Plugins folder and drop it on MT's main folder. It will ask you if it is OK to replace, just say "Yes", or rename the old one. Click on MT's shortcut to run it. Right click on MT's TV screen and go down to "Settings" then over to "General Settings" and click on the tab "Miscellaneous". Here, put a check mark in front of "Change channel by single click" and "Turn LNB power off upon exit", Leave the rest alone. Clicl on "x" to get out.
Next, right click again on MT's screen, down to "Settings" over to "LNB/DiSEqC settings and scan". There is a list with the names of sats. If you want to get rid of some or all, highlight it and choose "Delete". If you have DishPro (DP) LNBs, you must "Import" a modified list of TPs from here: hxxp://www.ultimatetesters.com/foru...read.php?t=8559. In this list, the Horizontal transponders have been converted to Vertical because DVB software (MT, Ritz and others), can't "see" the Horizontal TPs* (Read note at bottom of this page). Choose Echostar 7 or Echostar 6.8 for Dishnet. Below this window, you will see the name of the sat you just chose, and at the end of this line is a "button" that says "DiSEqC". click on that and choose "Simple LNB1". This means, there is no DiSEq and you have connected the LNB directly to computer. If you use a DiSEq and have connected sat 110 to port 1 and 119 to port 2 then you don't click on "simple LNB" but on "committed LNB1", click on "Do Now" and on "OK". Below the DiSEq "button", there are three boxes (LOF1:, SW:, and LOF2: ). Put a 0 (zero) in LOF1 and a 0 in SW. In LOF2 put this number: 11250000. Now click the "Apply" button (under SW box). Don't forget to click on "Apply". Now click on the mext sat name, "DiSEq" again, "committed LNB2", "Do Now", "OK", put same number as above in LOF boxes and hit "Apply"
In same screen, right hand side, is a box with the transponder frequencies. Click on the first one to highlight it and then click on "Scan" (bottom right corner). If everything is setup properly, it should find channels. Do the same with each one of the transponders. Not all of them have channels though. You can "Sel. All" and then "Scan" but for some reason, it skips some channels. So, it is better to them "one at a time".
After you are donne with scanning, click out ("x"). Now you are on MT's TV screen. Right hand side, at the top, there are six boxes. Click on the one that says "Sat", and at the corner, (bellow the "x"), click on "All". Under those boxes, you see a list of the sats you just scanned. Click on one (e.g. Echostar 7), and you will see the channel names. The ones with green dot, are FTA the red ones are encrypted. Click on Nasa or any green and see if it comes on. Not all greens are tv channels though. If you don't have picture and sound, right click on screen and got down to "Settings" and over to "Graphs". Click on a gragh and see what happens. If nothing, choose another graph untill you get video and sound. Now, click on a red one. You should also have video and sound.

After you get familiar with MT, you can try Ritz. It is a good program also. It is free and it is not supported by the author.
If you want, you can use ProgDVB. Read the sticky in this forum (by Matrixed dss), it has excellent step by step instructions.

This little guide is very elementary, but it is a good start to get you up and running. There is a lot more to it, ask in the forum.
Have fun.

*Dishpro lnbfs are erronously being reported as not usable with Fta receivers because of internal switch. This is not true. You can use them with no additional switch needed. The only time you will need to use an additional switch is when adding a second dish to your system. Pro lnbfs have a built in DISEQC switch not a sw21 as the legacy twin has. You can easily identify pro lnbfs by a large black D/P label. All that is needed to use this lnbf is to connect 1 cable from lnbf to rcver. Each output on this lnbf carries both 110 and 119 signals. The different outs are for connecting additional rcvrs. Load a modified dishpro channel list or modify your own list. To do this subtract all horiz. transps. from 25600. Enter result as your new transp freq and change to vertical. IE. on sat 119 transp 6 is 12297h. Doing the subtraction, you get 13303. So change transp 6 to 13303 and change h to v. Now you have 13303v and will be received dy dishpro lnbf's. To get a bit technical, the dishpro's use an oscilator that runs at 25600mhz. This is mixed with the horizontal transp freqs and new freqs are generated. If you should wish to add additional dishes to receive a third and even a fourth sat you must add a external 4x1 Diseqc switch. you must feed both port 1 and 2 with both(or in case of quad,2 )outputs. You can then add a third dish to port 3 and even a fourth to port 4.

What is the problem with the 1022?

Some peeps reported over-heating problems; some peeps reported the card crash their computers; and some peeps reported the card came DOA.

I got a 102g twinhan, this copy & paste seems so easy, I can't get to first base yet

Install DVB card in a free PCI slot and turn comouter on. Microsoft has all the drivers for the Twinhans. So when turn computer on, it will detect the card and ask you to search the net for drivers. Click "Yes" and they will be installed for you.

what the heck do you do if you install card, it detects hardware, then you click yes, it goes on the internet & finds NO drivers

it says not to install the cd-rom that came with it

what exact drivers do I need? can I go on the sites & get them?

I read sj's thread from above for the 1020A
it says files needed skystar2 drivers and program (4.2.10
off of bbti.us/support, can't find 4.2.10 on there

also it says to go on the twinhan site for 2.42a didn't see that one either?
I went down everyone of these threads before I posted
