I've been reading these forums for a long time and have gotten lots of help from reading here....thanks to everyone, however I have a very interesting problem. I have had a single lnb pointing at 119w for quite some time with no problems, now I finally got a dual lnb setup, went to change the dish and got no signal at all. I hooked up my old dish again EXACTLY where it was and am still getting no signal even though i had one not 5 minutes earlier. I have checked the cable lines and lnb setup on my fortec ultra its all as it was before i started. Anyone that has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate any help.

Hello,

Let me add my 2500a problem to your list; maybe you may get an answer to your questions. This time last week, I had Nagra 1 viewing pleasure. I attempted to download nagra 2. I used the 253 bin and channel master to download channels. For the past few days I have NOTHING. Now, I have been told that while I was unplugging and then plugging back up after programming my receiver, I may have blown the diseq switch. When I turn on the receiver, all the channels are there and the levels are acceptable but still nothing. Ofcourse the switch is not something you buy at Radio Shack or Best Buy.

All to say, you may have blown that switch because I did not think to turn the receiver off in back. Now, do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Im not even using a Diseq right now i went back to direct line feed no signal period. try reflashing factory bin and load latest bin see if that works.

Not sure how much help I can be on this one. But I have found when removing and reinstalling a dish (which I have done a lot on my dish farm) I almost never get it back just right no matter how well I mark it. Even if I changed nothing as far as mounting or settings on the dish.

So far I'm new to FTA. So to date I have not set up a dish using a FTA receiver. I cheat a bit and use a DN receiver for the alignment then I know it's right. Once I know the dish is right I hook up the FTA and set it up.

So if you can borrow or have a DN receiver use it to make sure the wire and dish are right. That will go a long way to narrowing down the problem.

jersey.....you have to fine tune your dish in..im assuming you replaced your single dish with a dish500 that has dual lnbs??...if you have an actual dishnet receiver, its much easier to fine tune both 119/110 sats in.....then once your dish is locked down..swap the dishnet reciever out with your trusty fta......rescan...also...make sure in your fta setup that your lnb's are assigned right.....119 is usually assigned as number 1...110 is usually assigned as number 2......112500 for frequency....make sure the desqc setting is set to ON...yada..yada..yada

bullshitter..this sounds like a power supply problem and not bin related...probably overheating...put a small fan near it ......dont put the reciever in any entertainment system enclosure...let it breath

sissylonglegs......rule of thumb.....never just use the on and off switch...unplug any receiver before connecting or disconnecting coaxial lines...all it takes is a little static spark and it will ruin something....you can bypass your diseqc switch to see if something comes in.....all the switch does is switch you between satellites depending on what channel your seeking....if you were testing a dishnet receiver, youd be using a sw switch of some type.......your switch may be ok...you may fooked up one or more of your lnb's........throw a ladder against your neighbors house at 3 in the morning and borrow his to verify......i wont tell...probably...lol

anymore thread hijackers need spoonfeeding?

Easy enough to check. Load the nag 1 bin that formally worked and hook up just one LNB. Reset to single lnb use in the menus. If it works hook up the diseq switch. Set up the receiver for the switch. If that works then the switch is fine. By the way switches are available on the net for 15.00 or less lots of places. PM me if you need a source.

If all that works and you find the switch is OK suspect the bin. In setting up my unit I found 3 non working bins and one that worked. In my experience so far this seems common and is something to keep an eye out for. So don't grab the first bin you see. Look for some feedback on specfic bins that work problem free.

On a 2700A I never turn off or even power off while reprogramming the bin or channel guides. So far no ill effects in any way. The 2500A or any other brand or model may require a bit more care in programming methods so don't take my example as a universal truth.

thanks t160hq> i appreciate the help. I did leave the reciever on when i switched the coax apparently a big no-no (lol). I reflashed and everything working great on 119 going to hook up my d*s*500 tomorrow. Ill be sure to unplug the reciever when changing coax. Thanks for the spoon feeding my wife says the same thing! Anytime jersey. Credit where credit is due though. The power off when connecting and disconnecting hot coax lines was Matisse's advice. And I would add 100% correct. Do it long enough and it becomes second nature. Just glad someone like matisse is around who remembers not all do this sort of stuff on a regular basis.

Thanks to all for the advice. I really don't know how to mess with the lnb's. I may be pm'ing one of you to talk me thru this unless someone knows a DN worker in SC? Thanks to all. I will figure this out.
