A friend of mine gave me 2 recievers and a HD dish for Direct TV. I need to know the first step to getting this thing going. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Call direct tv and tell them you want to subscribe. That's all you can do, at this time.

What do I do after that? Does Direct TV have MTV and all that stuff?
The recievers that I have both came with brand new cards and everything.

if you have a clue there not hard to set up you have to put your dish somware with a view of the south and then hook it up and turn on the ird go to opptions and set up snd get the compass and ele settings for your zip code then i give my brother my cell phone and send him out to the dish and use the sig meter for final adjustment then call dave and get him to turn you on

You lost me at the Dave part. I acually have to call someone named Dave or is that a acronym for something? If I already have the card do still have to subscribe or can I run the system without all that contract bullshit? My goal here is not to even pay for the basic plan. I want to get this thing up and going for free.

I think you should go to the DTV website and check out pricing/packages and decide what you want.
If you're asking about a hack for DTV, there isn't one.

What do you mean there isn't a hack? I think you mean there is no way to get it absolutely free right. But there has to be a way to get more channels or something.....

Hey man I don't know anything about this stuff. If you wanna talk cell phones thats a differant story. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about what can be done with this stuff I got. I think I get the point now though, its good for nothing. I mean if you can't even get some extra channels for free who the hell wants it. Especially now a days with everything under the sun costing too much money, I'm trying to get anything free that I can. So basically just throw the shit in the garbage then right.

I wouldn't throw it away just yet...who knows whats up the pipe. Besides, it has market value. If you don't wanna sub, sell it on Flea Bay.

I'll probablly just keep the cases to the recievers so I can build car pcs out of them and also keep all of the wires and throw away the dish. I find it hard to believe that nobody has figured out how to hack the system yet. Everything has been hacked and is going to keep being hacked, maybe I'm just in the wrong forum or the people who know how to do it are scared to tell me. What ever happened to good old stealing? Everybody now a days is afraid to talk about anything illegal. Shit, my every though is about how to get the next deal or trying to get something more for the same price. I don't know, I guess I'll try out some other forums or web sites, maybe some sites outside of the country wouldn't be affraid to talk about it. Thanks anyway man.
if your gonna sub then id forget dave, dish offers a few better channels like the WB other than that there both a waste of $$

yep wrong forum. no hack here If you find a loose lip site that aint scared to talk maybe they can help you get something for free...and also guess your wieght and age or you get a stuffed parrot.. watch out if they tell you they have the only live wild man in captivity or the worlds fatest lady
before you go tho READ the dtv forum you can get a discount on a sub though
