It's been my experience that if I did not want a specific channel(s) listed in the guide or when you flip up or down the remote, a DRD420RE has a Profile menu where you can choose what channels will pop up in your guide. You can still tune to the channel, but you will have to do it manually instead of the guide showing it to you. You don't even have to set a lock or limit. It just doesn't show up in your guide, but it's there.
What kind of IRD do your have?

You can remove it from your line-up, it won't show in the giude, the channel changer arrows won't go to that channel, but you can still key in the channel number and it shows.

Yes, mine works as you both mention. I can still enter the number manually. What I'm looking for is a way to filter out a particular channel from ever being displayed, or giving the "this channel has been locked" message when you manually tune to it.
DARN KIDS!!! Just can't stop that teenage testosterone. If you use activation you can kinda block it or if the kids are too smart at least you can see what time they watched and call them on it

i think the only way to do it is with the built in hardware features....
