need help w/ nimiq 1.... [Archive]

I think you may be aimed at the wrong sat bird? I aimed at 119 and 110 echostar which on the fta unit were Echo 7KU and Echo 8.6KU or something like that. I didn't think their was a Nimiq 1 fix unless it is strictly free to air channels.

If you do a search for Pansat 3500 you will find where I made up directions on how to start from scratch. Just click on search at the top and enter pansat 3500 and look for my post they shoud set-up pretty much the same.

I made up these cheat notes setting up my Pansat 3500 and thought someone else could use them. I took a lot of info from this site so not all the work is mine just tried to consolidate it all.

PANSAT 3500

Load Current working bin from download section or your favorite spot using
GTRMLOADER it can be found in download area which is the http: below. If you don't know what file is working currently for a pansat 3500 post the question on this forum to be sure.

under FTA Files Number 54

START UP

1. Select english as language. (To select something push the ok button on remote).
2. Select english as language or your language
3. Select installation on menu enter 4 zero's 0000
4. Select edit TP Satellite
5. Select ECHO 7KU select Rename change to ECHO 119 make sure to put a space between the ECHO and the 119. To make a space click on the left hand top corner where their is no character.
6. Seclect ECHO 8.6KU select Rename change to ECHO 110 make sure to put a space between the ECHO and the 110. (changing the name of both sats to the correct ones allows you the ability to get channels in the order dish has them simply by pushing the SAT button on your remote and selecting Echostar Package when your finished with these directions)
7. Click the EXT button this allows you to back up a screen go back to the ANTENNA SETUP
A. Put a check mark by 119 change the DISEQ screen to your right on tv screen to a 1 (that means 119 lnb cable goes into the diseq switch at number 1). Leave all other values the same click EXT button to back up and OK button to save.
B. Put a check mark by 110 change the DISEQ screen to your right on tv screen to a 2 (that means 110 lnb cable goes into the diseq switch at number 2). Leave all other values the same click on EXT button to back up and OK button to save.
8. Exit to install screen by pushing EXT button select Blind Scan and select ECHO 119 at the top then click on scann all at the bottom of screen. Wait like 20 minutes then repeat process for ECHO 110. This scan allows your receiver to know what channels it gets. If you decide to do another scan always delete the channels first.
9. Set the Time. Exit to main menu by pushing the EXT button. Click on User Set-up scroll down to Time Setting change the time zone to GMT -0400 (that equals EST currently I am pretty sure. The - is a minus) this allows the program time to be accurate. The program guide is pulled by pushing EPG button on remote you may have to play with the GMT to get your program guide times correct.
10. Scroll down to current time press OK to select change all dates and times to the current ones. NOTE: This works in 24hour/military time.
11. Click on the channel edit select Alphabetical this alphatizis them. EXT back to channel edit.
12. Click on Favorites this allows you to make up to 5 favorite lists. The names of the Favorite lists can also be changed to something you can remeber. Look at the bottom of screen for how to buttons.
13. Once your done go here to get Channel Master open it and under tools click on Read From STB with your null cable connected to receiver it will back up your entire channel list the way you like it with the changed ECHO 119 and ECHO 110 all you have to do to reload it is to then go to tools and select Write STB. This is a good tool especially if you don't wan't to wait on the blind scan and your setting up a lot of 3500s. Go here to download Channel Master for Free hxxp://sharpc.com/CM/update.aspx

Remote Buttons
1. Push STB to make it operate the receiver with remote
2. FAV button brings up your favorites.
3. SAT button brings up channels like they are on normal dish network just select Echostar PKG after you push SAT.
4. EPG is the electronic program guide it brings up the Program Guide it takes longer to download the programs than the actual dishnetwork receiver. Sometimes they won't come down for certain channels.
5. Menu takes you into the main menu that allows you to make changes to the system like above.
