Hey Guys,
Just wondering if it's still worth setting up a DVB system. Will all the hype for AVR-X, are most people going in that direction now? So I guess my question is: was DVB just a "workaround" until something better came along, or is it a viable solution? Thanks

Still viable if you don't mind watching TV on your PC or if you have a good TV out on your video card. If you are use to watching Dish on a Dish IRD and don't want the hassels of going through the setup, get the AVR-X.

Neither on has a guarantee and the AVR-X only work with 2800 and 301 irds at mo'.
DVB is kinda clunky for watching TV. You have to have a PC on all the time, you need a fairly decent PC for the software based cards and getting some features to work well such as the program guide can be a hassle. If you don't know computers and Windows 2K software well DVB could be difficult. On the other hand the AVR-X requires some soldering skill.
