I live in Buffalo but am originally from Detroit. I want to "move" my service address so that I can get the Detroit locals. I have read in the past that it is was very easy to do. Is it still easy to do?
To complicate things, a week and a half ago I added 4 additional receivers to my account (total of 5 now). Do you think dtv would be suspicious of a "move" so soon after adding all those boxes?
Can I give dtv any real residential address in detroit area? Is it foolish to assume they wont check anything out?
Thanks,
Z

it's up to the spot beams for locals, I work in north florida but want orlando locals, never got them in the hu hacking days only 192 miles away with a standard dave dish, I even checked out one of those spot beam maps & went for a transponder in the loop, do a google search for spot beam maps, I would say your only chance is getting one of those 33 or 36 inch dish to go after those locals
dish orlando comes in 192 miles away, better chance with a dish fta

I actually live closer to Toronto and I am sure I am within the spotbeam. That is not my concern at all. I do not have a phone line plugged in to any of my receivers so they never call in.
I am just concerned about giving a random address and the fact that I recently added 4 boxes.
Thanks for the insight

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Hopefully someone will reply who's tried this recently.

How will you get your bill to pay it, if you give a random address. And what do you think will happen when that person receives your bill and sends it back to Dave saying "does not live here". Don't you think Dave will want to contact you then and if he can't get a hold of you, I would think he would disconect service, until you call to find out what is going on with your service.

Can you say you have purchased a new/2nd house and want to transfer service to a 2nd house but have the bill still being sent the current address?

if you read my original post, I am only moving my service address. This is not an uncommon thing. What might not be so common is moving service to an unknown address. dave will not send a bill to the service address - that is what the billing address is for.
if anyone knows what (if anything) dave sends to the service address - please let me know. the biggest problem i can see in using an unknown or random address for service would be the potential for dave to send out new access cards to the service address.
i have been told by someone that they think all bills and access cards are sent to the the billing address. Can anyone confirm this?
