I had directv people come over and setup my international Dish for me and left me 4 recieveres. NOw i am trying to share it with other buddies and problem is they are trying to use the old dish network dish to catch the satellite. Does that work, I mean is it even possible to try and use it ? and secondaly can please sugggest a good place to buy directv hardware like dish, swtichs etc ...I really appreciate your help thanks again.

I never tried using a DISH dish for DTV, but you would have to readjust to DTV sat. Just do a search on sat equipment to get a feel for how much stuff cost, if it seems to high just do like everyone else and check eb*y or craigl*st or local garage sales, etc.

Yes an old Charlie dish will work perfectly provided that it isn't DishPro, twin or quad LNB. Any old Legacy single or dual LNB will work.

I have no idea..I mean the dish and LNB if it's legacy will work fine....but as far as switch's go ...you may have to get fancy there....why not get extra dish's ..that way your bud's can have there own ...?.....just point it at the 101 bird..hook it to there IRD's...DON'T PLUG the phone line in at any time...LoL..and rock and roll .....you can plug the phoneline into your IRD....that won't be a prob....but if they hook there's up...you will be shut down as fast as the IRD's can make call's..LoL...

How? The sat can only dial the number you gave with the reciever. It dials your number, but no box at that number, dead end.. So unless it knows the number to contact the reciever, it can't trace the number your plugged in, unless I'm missing something? But your right, not recommend to plug in anyway. Just to be safe

Allright first of all thank you all for replying to my question. I appreciate it. Now I manged to get the old legacy charlie dish to work with Dave's IRD's and am able to see basic package channels just fine no problems. I still one more charlie legacy dish 500 and i was wondering if that could be used to catch 95W for international channels on dave. possible ?

Thanks again..

the sat has nothing to do with the dialing out...your IRD dial's out..and ya ..DTV has a call display set up..so if all four of your IRD's dail out to DTV..with diff phone number's...your in trouble....if you had all four in your house...they would all call DVT and dispaly the same number...?....Simple ..by §atan....

So do you know if i can use old charlie legacy dish to catch 95W or do i need the special tubular LNB to make it work? and if that is the case where would be a good place to buy one ?

thanks again

Sorry Hawk25.....I'm not to sure about the 95 bird or what they use for LNB's..Been out of dave for smoe time now..kinda lost touch with them on what's new..and what's old...I do know that any LNB set up ..be it Bell Dish or DTV ..should work for the 101 bird..but I can't say for sure if it work on the 95 ....I wasn't even aware that they had two bird's....LoL....
