View Full Version : New DTV with TIVO in Canada

If one gets a DTV system with tivo from the States which has been activated. Can it then be brought up north, connected and will it work here?

What about not connecting the phone line?

I just installed a Tivo for a friend that was activated in Chicago and brought to BC.Before I left his house I recorded a short show.No nags and no problems.I did not connect the phone line.

it should work as long as you dont connect the phone line, however if you have'nt purchased a tivo system yet I have one for sale which has been modified so it does'nt need the phone line at the beginning of activation, and it's a Phillips DSR7000 Series 2 Tivo

How does the tivo connected in canada get the guide update?

the tivo gets the guide via satelitte just like any other reciever
