Here is what I'm doing. Going to use my Dish 500 system with the twin legacy LNB's and a 6000 HDTV receiver.

Can I use a regular single LNB DTV dish to point at the HDTV satellite ?

I was then going to use an SW21 switch and put the input of the two dishes together and then that will go into the HDTV receiver.

Thanks!

No you can not cascade with a SW21

look here for alternatives hxxp://prosatellitesupply.com/

Thanks for replying so soon. I really didn't see an option on that site. I've read that the only HDTV Receiver I can use with the AVR-x cards is the 6000 model. That is also a legacy receiver. That means I can't use the new superdish that will pick up the regular sats plus the HD sat. I read somewhere on the site that I could use the Dish 500 dish i have now that has the built in switch (legacy twin lnb) and then use a dish 300 dish and point it at the HD satellite and then combine the two signals from both dishes. I figured that if i could use the dish 300 then i should be able to use a single DTV satellite that I have laying around.

Your saying that cannot be done?

Does anybody have any other solution?

SJ, I plan on using 2 Legacy Dish 500's and combining three of the LNB's with a switch21x and a switch 21 to maximize HD viewing for my 6000. Will this work?/

If you have a legecy or non dp type dish 500 you CAN add another dish into it with a sw21, I've done it for years to add in 61.5

The two legecy dish 500's have the same switch, I don't think that will work. Each switch cascaded needs to be a different model so the ird can detect each and properly control them.

Birdie,

Thanks. My original question was can i use a DTV dish to pull in 61.5? I have a single LNB DTV just laying around.

Thanks

Yes you can. Your set-up should work fine as well.
