I've come a long way with not much outside help, but I'm still very green and new to FTA....but I read, read, read all the posts, etc.

I have a Pansat 2500A. I am familiar with entering new keys, but when I've been trying to enter the brand new ones from the instructions in the forums, I'm having no luck. I did get help with the Nagra 2 change that happened last month, and as far as I know I am switched to Nagra2. I've been up and running fine.

But todays instructions for the Pansat keys refers to going to Nagravision, then dishwork wish I know how to do....BUT THEN IT SAYS "go to key data and press three times in left hand corner and it will read Nagra2". Right now it just says Nagravision at the top (not Nagravision 1 or 2) I cant figure out what button I'm supposed to be pushing three times in the left hand corner from the key data. My arrow buttons of course just make me scroll.

Apologies for being daft...I've tried going through everthing over and over, and my eyes are sore from reading. I've tried to post both lines, first line with 00, then second line with 01...and nothing. Anyone that can help me is my hero!!

I have been READING and I have LEARNED alot! This is the first time I've asked for help. I have been reading through this site for months, and usually I have been able to solve my issue. If you look at my post you will see THAT IS WHY I MADE IT CLEAR THAT I HAVE TRIED TO READ< READ>READ. I've quoted what the posts you refer to say, and I have tried, but I had a specific question about the instructions, and it looks like others are having the same difficulty. I am truly not being lazy...I'm trying very hard to be self sufficient. So come on....give a girl a break.......pretty pleeeeeeese.

Is there anyone that wouldnt mind to help me figure out how to enter the keys for my pansat 2500. My original post shows what I've tried already.

REALLY APPRECIATE>>>THANK YOU THANK YOU

THANK YOU SATURN55 FOR TRYING TO HELP ME. Really appreciate it!! Your instructions were great. I am familiar with the old key enter process. I can get through all the instructions no problem, but my trouble is when I scroll down to the Key # and press my "volume up Key" twice, it just changes the key# to "0", but at the very top, it still says just "Nagravision". The "volume up" key doesnt cause a change there, it only chnages the key number back and forth from "0" to "1". I tried going through all the codes, and going back and entering the second codes, as instructed, but no luck. The trouble seems to be with getting the Nagravision to change to Nagravision-2.

I really appreciate you trying to help me...any other suggestions??

Anyone??

If you took the time to read through the link you would realize that you need the MOST CURRENT BIN Installed -- Which will support the n2 key update.
Older bins do not support N2 Key update. Bins will be dated 10/1/05 for Pansat 2500 it is bin # 256

THANK YOU ANYPLACE. Again.....I'm reading and I'm trying!! And even though you seem to want to chastize me, you appear to have supplied me with some information....and I thank you for that.

I havent got a clue how to do download a bin, but I'll try to figure it out....If anyone whose not mad at me for not knowing doesnt mind to help guide me....I'd really appreciate it. In the meantime, please rest assured "anyone"....IM READING>>>> I PROMISE!!!. But if I knew it like the back of my hand, I'd be happy to help some other poor slob who didnt....so if there's anyone out there that doesnt mind sharing some helpful hints with me, I'm begging....and once I'm more knowledgeable...I'll gladly pass it on. I'm really no dummy...usually catch on pretty quickly...just need a little help....Thanks guys!

Well SUNDEVAL....we appear to have the same trouble. Can anyone help us please. I went to the public download file under free to air files and found this download. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS THE RIGHT FILE.

If so, can you help us with the download procedure or guide us to the right place. I have the cables, and I did do a download from my computer hooked to my receiver about a year and a half ago, but I was talked through it by a friend on the phone. I'm very shaky to do it on my own now.

Any advice, suggestions, anything would be a huge help....SUNDEVAL and SPIDERWOMAN need your help. Thanks guys!

put the bin in the loader and turn the switch off in the back of the unit and proceed with the loader as it may take a moment to boot up turn on the ird and hope that the unit starts loading the bin when finished it will flash and show time or a channel when the unit is done if it appears that it did not take continue until the timming is correct ..

Thanks for trying to help me "lsmith". I'll try not to sound like too much of a dummy when I ask....but when you say "put the bin in the loader"...what do you mean??
I have just my computer and my satellite receiver. Is my first step to download the correct file from the site....if so, do you know if this download below that I saw on the public download section of the site is the right one for my pansat 2500:

I think that last time I had to download a file and then plug the receiver into the computer, but I dont remember the steps in between. I was talked through it on the phone

Really appreciate any assistance....thanks again!

Is really helpfull if in your reading included some OLDER posts, on the top is one for lifetime ultra, but you can use that info for your pansats too (I guess both of you know your units better than me -I use Fortec-).
So you have basic knowledge of how to get into the web, so download is not a strange word or procedure, once you have located and downloaded the rigth bin file (please, make a couple of folders where you are going to keep your zipped files and another one where you are going to keep your Unzipped bins), and your uploaders (whichever you have to use for Pansat). Double check your settings for the COM Port 115200 your are going to use and be sure those matches the ones in the uploader. hook the cable to your computer and receiver and open the uploader, locate the bin and be sure that appears in the uploaders' window turn the receiver on with the back switch and as soon the display shows the ON push the button on the uploader -fix, download or whicever word uses- do not stop the procedure, after the upload, will say done or complete... and until the display shows the ON or channel number, then you can turn the receiver off again with the back switch... etc, etc. As I said, I do not know Pansats, but basically this is the procedure and if you did this before should be easy to fix them now. Good luck and comeback to inform us.

well said, and again continue to try the timming as the ird is in the start up mode, with the loader.you may need to test more than one bin to find the one for your unit...it will be magical:)

I feel your guys pain, cause I've been there. Have you guys used the search button located at the top of this web page? You need to search old posts cause the pansat 2500 has been out for a long time. I am going to try and upload an attachment that I have found doing alot of searching here. It has everything you need to know about your pansat. (except the current bin file and keys) Very very important. Thanks too all who support our free TV.

Thank you so much Calin, splatmaster, lsmith:cool:

I really appreciate the info...I'm a little of unsure of the folders for the unzipped files, etc., but I'll try to figure it out. I have a folder on my desktop that I had to download when I did this a long time ago. It has an application file clled 2300_2500_1 500 downloader, and a "BIN" file called 2500_04073_0224_api(N). Can you tell me if these are files I will use for this procedure??.

Also, I'm still trying to confirm if anyone knows if the following file is the right download for my pansat 2500.

Ok!!! When you go to the web and find the files you need, normally you are going to download them Zipped (compresed) to Unzip (uncompress) them you will need an aplication like WinRaR or WinZip, better keep the unzipped files -bins- in a separate folder. If you are not sure of what you downloaded before, please go to pansatusa.com and download the files you could use from them. And keep reading to find out which one is the lastest working bin!!! I told you before, I do not use Pansat, so I can not tell you if the bins you mention are the ones to use now (looks like one of them is a Factory bin)???

Spiderwoman, that (file clled 2300_2500_1 500 downloader) can be used to download the current bin file. I'm not sure if that firmware your talking about is the current 1. I've been searching for the current bin file myself. I've tried a couple of them but with no luck. Soooo, if there is anyone out there with a Pansat 2500A that is currently working, please let us know what the current bin file is! AND where we can download it. Thanks.........

I've downloaded and unzipped the X-85BL_051109_257_api(N).bin file. I hooked the receiver to the computer, opened my "2300_2500 downloader (modified May19, 2004). The setting s say "COM1", Baud rate 115200, and STB model says "key global". Under bin file it says: X-85BL_051109_257_api(N).zip

I waited for the green knight rider lights to go by and hit download as soon as i say "on" appear. After a couple of seconds it says "DOWNLOAD FAILURE"

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong...I've seen other posts saying to try the # 256 file, but I'm having trouble finding it, and the "download failure message" makes me think I'm doing something wrong.

Any suggestions, anyone,,,I so appreciate it!! Getting frustrated....trying very hard.....reading everything...

THANKS SOOO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE TRIED TO HELP ME...I THINK I'M GETTING CLOSE....BUT NO CIGAR!!

APPRECIATE ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!

You will need to UNZIP the file before you can use the loader.

I'm so glad you havent given up on me yet...Thanks.
I did unzip the file first. It was a winzip file when I downloaded it, then I unzipped it and now it shows as a "bin" file.

I wondered about my "com1" setting, baud rate etc. I've checked my connection. I'm using a 9 pin cable....the same one that worked for me before. Anything else I might be doing wrong??
