Cannot enter new keys via remote with coolsat, Anyone recommending these is hoping you bid higher on the ones they are dumping on fleabay.

For receivers under $200 USD
Based on Specs, Support, User Feedback, Dealer feedback and Current Selling Price...
After doing much research pros cons about the different mainstream receivers.
The best value seems to be Viewsat VS2000.
You can pick it up on fleabay for about $180 delivered from some long time Sat sellers.
Disclaimer: I own Pansat 2500A. I Do not sell receivers.

Did you try the new bin ? With 3 new bins came out within a week, I don't think anyone will dump the coolsat.

The support for coolsat looks good, at least they are trying to fix some problems, improve stuff, but with newest bin still getting freezing for a couple of seconds on a few channels...
I think the new bins will allow you to change keys birdie, but i would not recommend anyone to buy a coolsat 4000, viewsat is cheaper and better with good support. Spacestar is better than both of them with no freezing ever, crappy EPG, but great video, and 252Mhz processor....a little dreambox.....:D

Digiwave 7200S is the Best choice for you---faster, PIC is the best in market
I got one $299 and get the card slot there, all the function is perfect
AVR-X and Syndrom card are working. Emulation is up. Atmega is up.
If you plan to buy FTA, just wait a week or too. FTA box price are droping.

v.7.7 is a GOOD file to upload, after that you can enter the new set of keys. v.8.1 is a good file too, but this one comes already with the keys and when the next key change comes, you will have to upload a new bin (then you will have to wait until someone comes with it)!!!

I can't comment on the others, but I've have a Fortec Lifetime Ultra for about 9 months. Quality, appearance and performance are good.
The only complaint I have is that I found out I got a slow chipset. I bought at about the time they switched over, so I got old inventory and ended up on the short side of the stick. This bit me when the timebombs started going off a while ago. This should not be a problem if you buy from a vendor, but might bite you on fleabay.
As for bins, it's been okay. It almost always comes out for others first, but the Fortec stuff has never been far behind.

I paid $180,00 Canadian for a new Fortec. It really works great are support is very good on several sites. The EPG is a bit slow but it always works after a few seconds, and often instantaniously. I'm sure that there are better receivers but this is very good value for the money.
