When you sub, your first bill is for 2 months of service.
Bills after that are for 1 month at a time.
So theoretically, when you cancel your sub, you should
get 1 month of service beyond the day when you called?
I know somebody that cancelled a sub and the signal
was turned off like 2 days later. To me, that doesn't
seem right.

I've never heard of that. My bills are always for the next month, so I'm paying for what I'm getting now. If I call and disconnect, they will turn me off immediately, and then I'll either have a partial month credit, or they will refund the balance. I've never been into it for more than the current month.

I deactivated my service once, long ago, and had a $10 credit (i'd burned a little more than 70% of the month when I cancelled). I left the account active, but "off", so the $10 sat there waiting for me. When I reacitvated, they used the $10 toward the next month (and only billed me for one month).

They subbed back in 1997, the policy then was the first bill was for 2 months,
the next bill was for 1 month at a time. The same for dish network. You always
pay for future service. Any ppv purchases get tacked onto the next bill.
