Hello,
Anyone in Toronto (particularly downtown) mind giving me the azimuth, elevation and tilt to get the Dishnetwork satellites. I had Dishnetwork before, but recently switched my configuration to DirecTV after subscribing.
Now, using my DirecTV ParaTodos dish I can't get anything for Dishnetwork.
I am so frustrated as my AVR-X is all hooked up and I can't watch TV.
I have tried 220 (azimuth), 31 (elevation), 110 (tilt) to no avail.
I have also used a satellite finder device which shows a signal but when I connect back to my SW-21 I get nothing.
Please help :-)

OK. I now have a Dish1000 - Yeah !
I get 108 signal on the 119 bird.
However, I get nothing for the 110 bird.
Any help on with the skew for Toronto would be great.
Currently, my elevation is 29, azimuth is 225 and just so I can watch something the skew is set to 90 or 0.

Hi, without your coordinates (lat and long), I can't give you an exact set of figures but I will say this works for a location just North of Toronto: El = 31 deg, Az = 236 deg, and Tilt (skew) = 62 deg. Make sure your mast is completely vertical in all directions - use a level, check front to back and side to side. Set skew on the back of the dish and lock down the nuts, place the dish loosely on the mast and connect lnbf(s) to the cable. Slowly rotate your dish until you get a peak on signal, rotate back in the other direction, decide where the peak signal is and lock down the nuts on the dish. It doesn't matter which sat you peaked at - 110 or 119 - if your skew and elevation are correct, you will be properly aimed for the other sat.
Hope this helps....

Thanks r_hill and smilingjack for all your help :-)
I am a bit confused though, should skew be 63 or 117?
The scale on the back of the Dish1000 starts at 90 (perfectly horizontal) and goes up to the 180 and down to 0.

I am confused too but since I live at 23 degrees I have never used that scale but it works
I have been sending it to Canadians for 3 years and it always works for them

63, of course.....
:D
But seriously, I haven't installed a Dish 1000 antenna.....looks like a regular oval dish but uses a DP Plus Twin and a DP Dual (or DP Single) LNB (for the 129 degree position). I entered the lat/long of my position into the setup menu on a receiver to calculate el, az, and skew for an oval dish using a DTV Phase II Para Todos (not the Phase III) dish. It works for DN at 110/119 and since the Dish 1000 is compatible with any DISH Pro or DISH Pro Plus Receiver, I assume it will probably work for that dish as well, but you will have to play around with it.
Just my $0.02....

Finally got it! :-)
With the Dish1000, it is 117 skew as marked on its scale for Toronto.
I only need to see if I can get 129 from my location as I can't wait to use my 6000.
Thanks smiliing_jack...
Watching TV with my AVR-X - got Friday off life is grand!

Hmmmm...went outside today to check it out....Terk Oval Phase II dish with lnbs in positions 110, 119, and position 101 empty...skew set at 62 degrees. My location is due North of Toronto by a few miles. I guess the Dish1000 must have a different method of measuring skew from the Terk......
Yeah, it's pretty frosty out on the roof.....six inches of snow this morning.

The program has both settings in the skew program
http://www3.telus.net/rampage/skew.htm
I assume for the different dishes, it is a really good program and he has added a lot more towns and cities over the years, a lot due to testers sending in their results.
